I Won This 32 Ford Composite Body 3 Window Coupe
This 1932 Ford sits on a full Fat Man Chassis, 350HO 330HP GM crated engine, and a TH700 transmission. Chassis includes fully boxed American Stamping rails, Model A style crossmember, engine & transmission mounts, chrome front & rear spreader bars, Chrome front axle, suspension with 4 in. drop axle mounted with hairpins, shocks, perches, shackles, springs, kingpin covers, new plain iron spindles, 11 inch rotors & calipers, new Saginaw 525 steering box with chrome pitman arm, drag link, tie rod and ends, manual pedal system with dual master cylinder for 4 wheel discs, 9 inch rear with new axles and bearings mounted on triangulated four bar with aluminum coilovers with chrome springs & used open gearset, new rear discs, all iron parts, a park brake system, plumbed with DOT approved SS hoses and double flared steel lines.
I copied and pasted most of the above statement from the website where I won this coupe at a car show July 9th.
I've been looking at lots of hotrod books, and been in contact with Horton Hot Rods for prices on parts.
I would appreciate and ideas as to where I should start from here. The coupe is primed with a green gel-coat. The final color is going to be black cherry with tan interior.
Thanks in advance
Eric

Way Kewl!!! Last thing I won in a drawing was #7 in the draft lottery!!!! Car looks great!! If the doors are all hung and latched, might want to get a good wiring harness (my personal preference is Painless) and go from there... Welcome to CHR, and congrats on a terrific win!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

that is killer.
Looks like you will need all wiring, interior, door handles or popers, latches, glass, rad, grill, A/C if you want it. Any way there are enough people here that can help on what you need , where to get it and how to do it.

VERY good for you! Having picked the color for outside and in, and checking with a shop for parts means you've already decided on the theme for the car styling? Hope so, because that will make your parts needed acquisition better, and reduce the chance of buying the wrong parts. You don't say exactly how much experience you have with building a car from the ground up. Certainly getting a moderately complete package like this gives you a leg up, but there'll be lots of "little" things you've never imagined if you haven't done this before. Not saying this to demoralize you, just prepare you.
In the same vein just a couple practicle matters. You most likely know that you will owe Federal tax on the valuation the awarding group assigned to the prize. My guess is you've got something around $30k US there, give or take. Perhaps your province will want an income tax cut from you too. You've likely dealt with import duties already.
Looking at the picture only briefly there are two things you may consider changing regardless of the theme you've chosen. As always, opinions vary, but many have found a fiberglass hood top less than satisfactory on a car like this. Depending on your personal standards, your objectives for the car, and your wallet a steel or aluminum hood will most likely be more stable, especially when the temp is up. Also, unless you're going with a mid-70's theme, you're going to want to get some different rear wheels, maybe tires, and/or narrow the rear end some more. Tires sticking out a couple or so inches might work on Hot Wheels, but are less appealing on full size cars.
In the final analysis it's easy for us to give advice......my "favorite" is when someone says "it's yours, build it the way you want it". On sites like this bum advice costs the same as good advice............and only you pay any potential penalty. But man.........you have a terrific opportunity here!!!Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 07-31-2006 at 12:06 PM.

The drivers side fenders and running board were removed during the carshow to show all the chrome. I'm also keeping the fiberglass hood as a momento, and looking at possibly a steel hood with open sides. There were a total of 1601 registered cars at the car show, and the grand prize was drawn at random.

You lucky son of a gun. I don't think I've ever won amything except a few $2.00 lottery tickets. Youve got a great start on a great looking car and there are plenty of people on this sit who have built cars that can give you advise. Congrats againKeep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Before the negative starts about inactivity. Let me explain.
Prior to my post above, my last post was my intro in 2004! Shortly after that I had bout with cancer and a computer crash and lost everything. S-l-o-w-l-y I've been catching up on the sites I had in my 'favorites'. Now that I've found the site again I'll be around a lot more often.

Man thats just not right, having to sell something like that. I got to thinking about that and what I would do if I won a Duece Roadster. The more thought I put into it the worse my headache got. Now that could be partly the problem of me giving anything much thought. But if you think about this, hell I might have to sell it as well.
Car valued at $65,000, so that would be added income of $65,000 on top of what ever else money you made that year, or a total tax hit of around 30 to 35% or so around $19,500 to around $22,700 bucks add to that sales tax. Here in Bama thats low at 4% but if you lived in lets say California it could be 7.25% to a over 8.5% in same parts of that state that could be another 5 or 5 and a half thousand dollars. So now were looking at close to $30,000 just in taxes. Yea i would sell it Too.....

Given today's market where run of the mill glass '32 hiboys struggle to sell for north of $25k, and often less, a "winner" could end up upside down if all the wrong circumstances piled up.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
