Ford combos

What are the favorite ford engine-tranny combos in your Deuces? and why?

In a Deuce roadster I had a considerable number of years back, I had a roller cammed 351W with the old Ford SVO aluminum (I think J302??) heads and a Vindicator built and flowed 650 Holley DP with a Doug Nash street 5 speed.... It was one of my own Deuce Chassis' with Heidt's IFS and a 9" rear with unequal length parallel 4 bar with Watt's linkage and coilovers.... Handled like a slot car, accelerated like a drag car, and still got 16 mpg at a cruising speed a click or two above the limit.....

I'm partial to a 255 Merc with a '39 floorshifter 3-speed.
