Thread: I finally updated my repair log

In case you guys wondered how my previous batch of repairs went (remember the engine clearance, front suspension questions when I had all of you help me figure out how to fix things etc...) you might be interested in looking at my (now updated and current) repair log.

It is kinda interesting to look back at my first few repairs and see how the hotrod has slowly been evolving... Sure drives like a different roadster now!

Ahhhhh and to think all this good work will be thrown away once I bolt on the EVIL bias plys tires (sigh)

Nice repair log. I'm surprised you find the time to do a web report. I always think i ought to capture some of the stuff i do home here, but i always forget the camera is in the house next door.

Well, it actually helps me keep track of my progress, plus I have people asking for updates on the website,so it appears somefolks enjoy reading that stuff...

Did you get your bias tires yet? I saw a beautiful '32 roadster last weekend at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach and thought of you. It had reproduction Firestone "Gum Dipped" tires, tall on the rear and small on the front mounted on steel wheels with trim rings and hubcaps similar to yours. The owner had the car built by Mason's Hot Rods in South Carolina and couldn't tell me the supplier for the tires. The car was triple black and the wheels and tires made it look perfectly period correct. I hope you find something like that for your hiboy. Jim

Were they black walls? 15 or 16 inch wheels? Also what is "Gum dipped"... I so have a lot of bubble gum here, shoudl I start chewing?

Yeah, start chewing. No really, Gum Dipped was Firestone's top of the line tire and a process that increased blowout protection. I didn't check the size but would guess 16". See the attachment below. If Interested, I would call Mason's and ask where they get them. Cheers.
