So I am now driving on Bias Plys tires - here's the rundown

Oh my bias plys tires, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways:

1- my deuce steers better now

2- my deuce looks 200% better now

3- my deuce drives at 60 mph without ANY vibration (where as before, it felt like an earthquake was hitting Los Angeles again)

4- I can see the groove on the freeway, but I sure can't FEEL the groves. You drive straight as an arrow my dears

5- When I hit the brakes hard, you keep going straight

6 - when I do a burnout, you keep going straight

7- You are bigger and my rpm has now dropped when going at freeway speed

8 - my gas mileage (and wallet) thank you.

While driving around, just as aggressively as I ever did, I keep thinking that I am now on bias plys. I was expecting to be "all over the road" and crash into the first tree I passed, but you are handling oh so very well at the speed at which I drive. SO much so that I am not needing to change any of my driving habbits, if anything, I have been driving faster. Yes you are a bit rougher on the road, but not really all that much. Now and then, you drift a bit, but I let you do your "hunt and seek" and don't over compensate for it and my deuce stays straight. You remind me of how my dirt bike feels when I hit some soft dirt, and I like that feeling. You just have to go with it. I have notcied that while driving for a full hour, you may only "hunt and seek" twice for a few seconds. All in all you drive very straight.

All in all I love you and I don't know why everyone is bad mouthing you so much, granted they probably drive a LOT FASTER than I do. So for me, you are right.

I love you and I am never going back to radials. :D

I personally love the looks of bias-ply tires on an open wheeled car. I know that a guy here in Missouri had a set on his 32 5-window and took them off because of how they followed the grooves in the road. My father bought the whole set from him and put them on his 46 ford he had at the time and we had no problems with them like he had said the we would. So long live Bias Ply Tires! Also I love your roadster! But then again I am a little partial to 32 roadsters.

No, No wide whites. I stuck to black because

a- they, to me, look more "hotrod" as opposed to "streetrod".

b- everyone else run white walls, so I wanted to do something a bit different

c- It is unlikely that Johnny Callaway, who raced every saturday at Saugus and did a lot of street racing would run white walls, he would have been going through tires like crazy and it would get too expensive for him, hence the black wall tires choice for him.

PRESSURE IS CURRENTLY 30PSI. Can't remember what pressure I had in my radials... :o (old age will do that to you) and probably didn't check it often enough anyways. heck, for as long as they smoked, I was happy :LOL:

Even without the wide whites, yours looks damn good to me.:cool: You were probably running 32 - 35 lbs in the radials as most do. 30 should be a good match for the bias ply.

Thanks for the report. This should put some people's minds to rest who are thinking about using them. As I have said, bias plys are all I have ever bought, and probably ever will buy.
