You didn't like my flamed grille insert, what about this one?

The guy who sold it to me is being a jerk. Says it fits a stock 32 grille perfectly, has no idea why it won't fit a Vintique or Brookville shell. We also tried it in a rusty stocker & same deal. His response is to ship it back on my dime & he will test fit it in his shell. If it fits, he's shipping it back to me on my dime again.
I know how that will play out. Shipping on this thing is near 40 bucks each way!

Here's a pic. He said I must have dropped it to make the fit so off.
I wasn't aware that dropping it would shrink the metal!:eek:

That's sad - if you look at mine a couple of responses back, the configuration is NOT the same - and even with my angled shot. Methinks you was had:CRY: !! If you want to measure in a few places, and tell me exactly where you took 'em and send the numbers to me, I'll check against my Dale's. Or send to Deuce and ask him to check against an OEM. Measure the exact lengths of the bars should tell the tale.

I e-mailed the guy back just now. Said I'll ship it back on my dime, he can deduct 100 bucks for his trouble & listing fees & relist the insert. I think that's very fair. We'll see what his response is.
If it's truly as good as he thinks it is- should be no problem. If it's a POS & he knows it- this will prove it!


Dave- we laid the Dales right over the top of the Fink insert- not even close.

My guess is that he bought it cheap to resell or use himself - then found out he had a "special" for a unique 'one of' shell. Keep us up to date on what happens

Those e-bay experiences can be very painful! The crooks know they have the upper hand when they throw the "ship at your expense" line at you. I'm getting mad all over again! Man, I hate that this happened to you. Finding the money out of a family's income to buy street rod parts can be difficult for many of us. I have an original shell and a Brookville if you need any measure-ments. Just let me know.

Mine was a perfect fit to the Outlaw glass shell but I never sent the shell to them. I did tell them what kind of shell it was. They one you have must be a special order of some kind. If the problem is the grill and not your shell, then you should contact Ebay and PayPal or your credit card company. You should not have to accept misrepresented merchandise or pay for its return.

Frame is done- they are test fitting front suspension today after all the Tig welding before they shoot it. Then they will be fitting up everything w/ shell & realigning the 4 piece hood. Then they remove the windshield & prep for paint.
Hopefully, 2-3 weeks.

Slap me- but I'm thinking some traditional flames since it's going to paint anyway. They are painting everything from cowl forward but not the doors.
It's at the thinkin' phase only. Ryan at SoCal will probably hit me when I bring up the flame subject.:p
I'll probably have a coronary when I get the price for adding flames.

Maybe SoCal can get some "Apprentices" to work on it for you. :D It's about time for another show out of there, isn't it?

I'm shooting for the LA Roadster Show on Father's Day & they know it.

I spent some time on Dan Fink's web site & I see something different. On all the DF grilles, the 2 horizontal bars that space all the vertical bars are all straight across. Take a look at the 1st pic in the thread- especially the 2nd one I posted. Both bars are curved & peak in the middle. They are NOT straight across!
I'm wondering if this is someone elses grille & not a DF grille.:mad:

I'll be at the shop tomorrow and will take a picture of mine for you. I looked at some pictures I have but they don't really show the crossbars well.

If this guy has a good rating on Ebay you may have some leverage because he won't want any problems there.

Not my thing, but done tastefully can really set a car off very nicely. Maybe a subtle ghost flame job?? But I understand that they are much more expensive, too.:eek:

If you paid it with Paypal, they will lock his checking or credit card till you get it resolved. been there done that.
Go through Ebay "Fair Trade", they'll contact them on it aslo.

I looked at the grilles on the DF website & the one I got. The real DF grille has a straight across spacer bar (2) & this one has 2 curved bars & peaked at the top.
Sooooo I called Dan Fink. They confirmed their spacer bars are straight when viewed from the front & every grille they make is engraved with DF Metalworks on the top trim.

FRAUD!!!!!!!
