My '32 3W Coupe project is about to begin. :D Today I ordered a TCI complete chassis with several 'upgrades', the bad news is, it won't be here for 4-5 weeks. Over the weekend, I picked up a '96 Z-28 Camaro LT1 to play with until the chassis gets here. So guys, get ready for lots of questions!!!

you bought the camaro to drive or use for parts for the '32? I have a '96 Z...it's pretty fun :toocool: I also have an LT1 going in my '35...so either way should be fun for you!

The TCI will provide a really good foundation. have you taken time to sit down and plan the theme of your car? Stacy David on Gears recommends before starting to spend your hard earned money, set down in writing what it is you want to accomplish. This prevents side tracks that take away from the overall look and time/money wasters.

It is clearly evident that I like the old timey, more traditional look instead of the flashy look. I am 60 years old ... and like the look that I remember when I first got to liking 32's. Nothing wrong with any of the other looks ... just try to make sure all the stuff matches ... and does not look " CONFUSED " :rolleyes:
What 32 3W body are you planning on using ??
Heatwave and Deuce, I have done exactly what Stacy recommended (I also watch Gearz), and I have many pictures of cars similar to the one I have in mind. I have several lists started, one I call 'Deuce Ideas', every time I see something that I would like to possibly use on my project, I add it to the list. Some of Deuce's pics from his last project (the Coupe) are in my 3-ring binder along with many others. Ken Thurms' Deuce Hi-boy project is another example of great ideas in my book. I get inspiration from many areas, not just Deuces, but any car I see that has a neat, different, unique detail, I will take a pic and put it in the binder. As Ken mentioned in one of his Hi-boy posts, I have a couple of pics of a car that I really like the overall look of in my garage to keep me on track.Quote:

Deuce, with real steel being way out of my budget (you seem to have the market tied up with real Deuce parts..........LOL), I will be using a fiberglass body, an N&N. Glad to hear that you pulled the trigger. I will be watching with interest, with special interest in how things go with Duane at N&N. Are you carrying your TCI chassis up to Duane to build your body?
Roger, I started to send you an email with the news, but I knew you would see it here, now it's your turn to get started!!! I talked to Duane again last Monday before ordering the chassis, even though he likes to do it that way (attach the body with the floor already on your chassis), it isn't absolutely necessary. Since Duane is 1000 miles away, I don't plan on making several trips back and forth to Arkansas just to fit the body to my chassis. I'm working with a very reputable builder here in Tampa that has the skills to form every piece of his '34 & '37 bodies for the Woodies he builds so I am confident he can guide me thru the entire build process.Quote:

If your TCI package includes gears then I would probably go with the posi option unless they price it out of range. You can pick up a third member for about $100 (according to Duane @ N&N) later if you want to wait, but having it done from the start is a plus.
Definitely get the posi, and I would recommend the Detroit True-Track. It is what I run, and it does not have some of the negative aspects of a posi rear end. I like mine a lot.

Received great news today, I got a call telling me the chassis is finished and ready to be shipped. This is much quicker than I expected, I placed the order exactly 2 weeks ago, I was originally told it would take between 3-4 weeks. I'm guessing it will take about a week to make it's way from Ca to FL. I'm excited like a kid at Christmas waiting on Santa to arrive!!:D

These cars are fun the people are fun. Build it the way you want and what you can afford. Dont worry about others they dont have to drive it or pay for it.
There are MANY nice cars out there some glass some steel. If you go to a show or cruise you will alwya find one nicer. Dont try and keep up with the them.
I think you will be happy with your N&N I was. I had fun with it and was able to sell it for good money. If you ever get to the point of selling.It was not quick to sell but if you wait you will find someone to buy if you build it correctly
Latest update, the chassis has arrived and is in the garage, now the fun begins. One of the first things I did was swap out a residual valve TCI installed wrong, they used a blue 2lb valve for the rear drum brakes. Cecil was nice enough to give me the proper 10lb valve off his shelf. He was also nice enough to deliver the rear end assembly to my house on his way home from his shop.

When I was building my deuce, I was getting a lot of parts via UPS. One day my wife signed for one of my orders and the UPS lady asked what all the deliveries were for. When my wife told her she replied, "Hm, I've never knew you could buy a car one piece at a time." LOL!
I used a bunch of TCI parts and pieces when building both of my 32 Ford frames.

CONGRATULATIONS on getting your chassis. Just remember that this is a HOBBY and not a job.
Take the problem solving in easy strides and do not let the problems bum or burn you out.

I think you are choosing good parts. I used there chassis in my red car, but modified it a little. One thing I did was lower the back of the car. If you look at the rear cross member where the coil overs mount you can see how I raised it. Just a suggestion if you aren't happy with the ride height when you put your body on.

A game plan is #1 priority. Last thing you want is a "confused" looking build.
Mine has a TCI under it. Pretty happy w/ it. If I was doing it over- I'd probably do the one from So-Cal instead.
Oh- and stuff a Hemi in it. :p
Ken's shop is cleaner than my house.
