Wishing all of you hot rodders (and your families) out there a very very christmas and a happy new year!!!! May you all be safe over the holidays and i will be back next year with all new pictures of the project!
Man the car is lookin good. Dig that movie. If anybody dont know about Milner and a yellow 32 then you are not a hot rodder
Say Project.... what was hung from Milner's rear view mirror in the movie???
Hanging from Milner's rear view mirror is a blue garter belt with a pin/button of John F. kennedy saying "HE WILL WIN". This pin/button is an old flicker type button which mean when you move the button it will show Kennedy's face but when moved again it will show "HE WILL WIN".

These Photos were taken while the coupe was getting freshened up for "More American Graffiti". The women in this photo are not nurses but rather dental assistants who just wanted their photos taken with the coupe. :HMMM:
Emergency,... woa, what a flashback. One thing I thought was always funny was no matter what accident the patient had, Dr. Early would always say " Start D5W with Lactated Ringers". I don't care if they fell off the top of the Eiffel Tower, or drank Rat poison, they got D5W with lactated ringers....
I loved that show!! What's a lactated ringer though??
IV solution with lactate(complex milk sugar) also with electrolytes of sodium, chloride, potasium and calcium. Very popular on that show! We use D10W alot in our Neonatal intensive care nursery which is 10% Detrose(simple sugar)Water.
I loved that show too! It's funny I just recertified in CPR two days ago, and from thirty years ago when I first took CPR to today, they have gone from giving 5 chest compressions and 2 breaths, to 30 chest compressions and two breath cycles. It turns out that they study recoveries and found out the breaths have little to do with bringing people around, as the compressions do. As a matter of fact they American Heart Assoc. now says if you don't have a protective mouth barrier to do just chest compressions until one arrives, or EMS gets there! The biggest change is shocking them with a defibulator right away!
O.K. enough side track, back to the yellow beast!
Wow, that's cool the coupe had some stardom. Emergency was great; right up there with Ponch and John on CHIPS.
Hi looking to build a highboy with just rear fenders. Can you tell me where you got yours. Are they glass? Randy
Hey 32highboy54,
The rear fenders story goes like this. New Age Motorsports sent me a set of their stock (fiberglass) rear fenders. I spent something like two weeks and a lot of beer shaping them to look like Milner's rear fenders (I had a ton of photos of the original rear fenders by me when I did this). Once I was happy with what I came up with I sent the rear fenders back to New Age Motorsports for Ed to mold. These rear fenders (along with the front cycle fenders which I also copied and have not put on the coupe yet) can now be bought at New Age Motorsports. :D

Hey Everyone,
Just wanted you all to know that I'm back. This was a REALLY HARD winter for me as my kindney stones would not let up so I didn't even touch the coupe once this winter . Well GOOD NEWS, I had surgery on the stones and now I feel like SUPERMAN!!!! With this being said I was already to get back on the coupe this spring but as I was getting ready to get started I lost my grandfather who was like a father to me so I had to take a little time off to gather myself back up before getting back into the car thing as at that point my heart just wasn't in it. Now if all of this being said I am ready to get back to turning wrenchs (as this is how my grandfather would have wanted it). I will however be sharing my time between the coupe and going back to the farm to help my grandmother out. Today was the first day that I had a chance to even be back in the garage and man was it DIRTY!!!! I spent the whole day just getting things back in shape so once I getting going I will be able to move a lot faster (come to think of it I was never very fast:LOL:). The old coupe as about an 1/8 inch of dust all of her but she still looks good to me! I pushed the old girl outside where she saw daylight for the first time in seven months. I was so happy to she her again I took a picture of her just incase you forgot what I am working on (photo below). Now it's time to get this thing done so you all will be seeing a ton of photos coming up here REAL SOON!!!!

Very nice. That car is one of my favorites. Saw one yesterday at show. Had the THX-138 plate. Color was too pale. Only 3 duces. Ft fenders were wrong. Interior.............same. If it was in primer or blue, and you took the plates off it would have been a nice car. But if your gonna clone it, then clone it. Yours looks real good so far. And is apparent by details. Cal custom reg cover and relay cover. I spent way too much for a vintage cal custom reg cover on e-bay to put on my 66, now if you look at the firewall of my hot rod you will find i used it to cover wireing thru firewall. Drilled a hole in bottom and slotted it. I thought long and hard about it. But you really couldnt see it under the hood of the 66.
Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing it completed.
THANKS dlotraf33! I hope to be sharing this build with all of you BIG FANS out there!!!! Yes, I know there seems to be a lot of clones out there of this car I am just hoping mine will look like the one in the movie. Remember you can never pay too much for a part if it's just like Milner's .
nice build there project I am a newbie here, just finished from the start of your
build. but you know now there tributes instead of clones makes it sound better too I think. keep up the great work look forward to seeing it on you tube going
on it's maiden voyage.
THANKS green34ford and welcome to the site. I am sure you will have a lot of fun on this site as everyone I have delt with has been really nice. I would have to agree with you on the tributes vs the clones issue, however this coupe I am building I hope turns out to be a clone but just nicer. I think if you want the MILNER LOOK but don't want to go through all the hassle of trying to build it with all of the correct parts then you have a tribute but if you go through the pain of searching your butt off and pay the BIG BUCKS for this stuff to put on your coupe then I would have to call it a clone as long as you keep everything Milner Correct. I too look forward to seeing this coupe on youtube and the especially the road!!!
For those of you wanting to see the header panel above the inside windshield.

OK, I am going to do something I promised myself I wasn't going to do but I guess I just can't help myself due to what happened last weekend . The thing I never wanted to do here on this site was to mention my little company called Project THX 138. The reason for this is I really don't want to come off as a salesman except when I talk about New Age Motorsports and thats only because Ed and Chris are the BEST in the business when it comes to making 32 Ford stuff. Project THX 138 (www.projectthx138.com) on the other hand is just about the Graffiti Coupe. Here on my site I have talked in great detail about the original coupe for seven years and have a lot of guys build their dream car (Graffiti Coupe of course).
One person I helped was Dave Acheson (Super Dave) who has since became a VERY GOOD FRIEND of mine. Well here is the story that made me break my silence (although some of you had already figured out that I was the owner of Project THX 138). Dave last weekend meet the man himself CHIP FOOSE. I don't know about you guys but Chip walks on water in my book! Well anyway Dave was getting Chips autograph for himself and one for me (as I have never met Chip before) when Dave ask CHip if he would sign his coupe. When Chip asked him what car was his and Super Dave started to tell him Chip seemed very excited to do so as he was going to have a photo shoot in front of Super Daves coupe for some magazine so he said it would be no problem. Now this is were the story gets REALLY GOOD in my book. Chip started talking about the Graffiti Coupe and how he has met the original owner Rick Figari but then Chip said that if he (Dave) really wanted to know about the coupe that he should get a hold of Rick in Kansas City! YIP, Chip Foose was talking about me! I couldn't belive it and either could Dave!!! Dave started laughing and told Chip that he and I are good friends and that I helped him oout with his coupe and infact that one autograph Chip had signed was going to be sent to me and Chip said give back and wrote what you see below! I just want you all to know that I am just so freakin happy I just want to tell the world about this!!!! I still can't belive that Chip Foose was talking about some dumb Kansas farm boy :D. It just goes to show you every dog gets in day at least once ;).
Below are photos of Chips autograph to me and pictures of Super Daves coupe before and after dealing with me (just a side note, Daves Coupe is getting quite popular) plus Chip's autograph on Super Daves Coupe.
Hope you all enjoyed this little story of mine!

I'd be stoked too, great story. Chip Foose is one of those people I'd really love to meet and chat with. Seems to be the real deal as well as super talented.
Maybe Chip will want you to autograph one of his creations. :D:D
Don
thanks for sharing the story, I have met him a couple times here at the year one events. he is a real nice person.
hi all!! i put this master cylinder on my car for the clutch,it works great but seems to seep fluid out the top, under the top is a cardboard gasket? and two o rings,do they go top to bottom around the cardboard on the bolt? can i get a new gasket and where? thanks pete
I'll have to look at mine today and report back, but I think the o rings go directly under the lid, but before the paper gasket.
Mine never seeped, so wherever they are in there they must have worked. I'll let you know tonight, in the event someone else doesn't post an answer first.
Don
Hey project thx!
Car is looking great! Great does not even cover it. Your attention to detail is amazing. Glad to hear you got through those kidney stones and very sorry to hear about your grandfather earlier this year. AWSOME CAR!! Don Jr.
Hey Everyone,
Just thought I better post something so you all don't think I have fallen off the face of earth .
Well it has taken me a quite a bit of time to get this far on this project as my family and I went on vacation (to Branson Missouri), we have also had a couple of deaths in the family (my aunt Sharon and my great uncle Joe who both I will miss as there is still an ache in my heart as both were GREAT people) and I have been going down to the farm to help my grandmother out since my grandfather passed away in March. So as you can see I have been pretty busy running around but I am know finding a little time to work on the old girl.
This is what is taking place at the present time. The chassis is getting all welded up plus it is getting the boxing plates step boxed. The stainless firewall insert is getting drilled so all of the componets can be installed (fuel block, master cylinder and radiator support rods) which is not that easy as this stuff is HARD!!!! I am also in the progress of installing a Juliano's top kit. just so you know that installing this kit is a pain in the ass as it is made for a original steel car . However I will get it installed so it looks like it belongs on the (yes I am using the original 32 measurements).
Hopefully it will not be so long until my next post and THANKS to all of you who are saying such nice things about this build!
Enjoy what photos I have :o

thanks for the update I have looked several times for updates. Glad to hear your back and safe.
Project THX, I recenrly put a Julianos insert in the 3-window I'm doing.
I bought the kit but ended up not using the canvas material that goes under neath and the foam that they provided.
It comes with 1/2" foam that I was afraid would give a "moving a matress" look to the car, so I used 1/4" foam so it wouldn't stick up too high.
If you haven't already finished yours I have some photos of how I did mine if your interested but here is a picture of the finished product.
Mick
Could you send me a parts list of all the goodies you are using to ,build this car?
Thanks, leorilla.;)
Hey Mick,
Yes, I would love to see how you did yours! I have not done anything except for drill the holes in the strips and make a paper pattern off an original 32. I kinda wish that the how to video covered putting one on a fiberglass car since that what I told them I was putting it on.
I guess my big question is really this, did you use a paper pattern or a piece of cloth as a pattern? I called New Age Motorsports and talked to Ed and he said I could use a piece of cloth (bed sheet) so the pattern would lay flat against the roof. If you notice in my photos the paper does not lay really good against the top of the car. Here is my worry, if I use a piece of cloth isn't my drill bit going to catch this and twist the cloth???
Anyway I would love your input on how you did such a bitchin job on your 32! Man I would love to be seen in that rod on a Saturday night!!!!
Rick
PS. I don't like the big foam pad either but once again this kit was made to go on a steel car so I will just give the foam to my buddy that has a steel 32 and get me a piece of 1/4 " foam. What did you not like about the canvas?
like you I made a Paper pattern from an original 32, making sure to get the corner radius correct. I also took down the measurements from the windshield reveal, door reveals (rain gutters on a 5-window) and top of rear window just to make sure I'd get every thing centered the way it should be.
Using the paper pattern and the other measurements, I drew a pattern on the roof with a grease pencil, marking the centers both front to back and side to side. I drew these marks quite a ways out so they could be referenced when the oversized foam and vinyl are put on.
We then made a wooden buck the correct width and corner radius to make it easier to bend the aluminum edging and get them correct. This may have been a little overkill but it worked very well. i also marked the centers of the aluminum edging so it could be layed on the roof by lining up the center marks.
I then drilled the holes in the strips every 1/2" (lotta damn holes) for the small sheet metal screws I decided to use rather than try to rivet through the Fiberglass.
I then placed the formed edging on the roof, taped it down securely and drilled holes in the roof every 1", removed the aluminum edging, masked off everywhere on the roof except where the insert went and sprayed the 1/4" foam and top with 3-M # 7 spray glue. I had a friend help me lay the foam down with no wrinkles or air bubbles. We put the edging back on the roof and cut the foam inside the edging as per instructions.
The rest is pretty self explanatory, I pretty much went by the printed instructions that they sent with the kit, (I didn't get the video) and I assume you also got the printed instructions
Hopefully my pictures will be in the proper order to follow but in case i've confused you or you need any thing else explained please holler.
There is probably several ways to do this but this worked well for me. The tuffest part was trying to line up the holes in the roof with the aluminum edging the several times we had to remove and reinstall it.
Mick
Here's the rest of the photos, I really hope this helps you.
