This is how I built the seat frame in my roadster some years ago. The drawing is not to scale, by the way. It is made of 1 X 4 oak. I used furniture springs I obtained from our local upholstery shop and a synthetic fabric they use (instead of burlap) to cover the springs. I stapled that to the frame and then let my upholsterer do the rest. The seat back was a solid piece of 5/8" plywood. It was a comfortable seat.

I also used a metal base which was a stock replacement for a Model A that I cut down to a suitable height. I placed my ignition switch in the same place--brilliant minds think alike! I like what you did with yours--it's now in my mental file for future reference.
