32 - 3 window Coupe Doors

Hey Guys help me out here please, I have a question concerning the door pillers on my 32 3 wind. all concerns are above the window sill. if you standing alongside the door looking at the 'A' Piller, is the door frame even with it ? ( In Line with it ) or does it gradually curve in and continue until it meets the roof line ( same question on the 'B' piller . reason I'm asking is on my body I noticed they are pushed in and it seems like they should follow the body contour. It's a Glass BeBop's body , and if this is not correct it looks like I'll have to cut the doors in order to straighten this out. I don't have any one near me with a steel 32 to compare it to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:(

The gap around the door should be even all the way around. The first thing I would do is call Bebops and ask for better fitting doors. I doubt if this will do any good but you'll find out about the way they treat customer complaints and you can let us know how they do business.
To repair it I would glue or tape a piece of a cardboard box to the A pillar and add fiberglas to the front edge of the door. The cardboard keeps the gap even and keeps the glass from sticking to the pillar. Then remove the door to finish sanding the repair.
If the gap is too big you'll have to cut the door post to repair it.

The upper portion of the door should start out "flush" at the belt line, and then curve in as it goes upward to tuck under the reveal line that goes around the door opening, so if I'm understanding what you put up you should be okay. What Al has posted is good info for evening the gap around the door edges.

The batt in my digital is too low on power, so I'll put a pic up later today after getting a new one.

Tim, Bob is correct in the top of the door sits in past the body, the drip rail which is molded into the body protrudes out farther than the top of the door allowing rain to drip on the outside of the door not inside. I have 2 32 3win, one outlaw and one steel car. By the way, did you use the Jag rear in your car? My steel car I built back in 1986 and used the Jag rear and it is a super setup. Jack

It should look something like this. Even the originals weren't all exactly the same, sometimes different from side to side even. This one's chopped 2", but this is pretty close to what an original would be.

Thanks Guy's I wasn't sure if I'd explained it well enough, apparently I did, Al Show I guess you figured I was refering to the door edges, I thank you for your response, Bob Thanks for the Pic's OK this sure made my day, it's correct then, it's even at the belt line and gradually tapers inward the higher it goes, it looks like the pictures you posted. Thanks to 32 Ford too, indise the car the door sticks out beyond the 'A' Pillar , I will probably be able to adjust this out and then grind the rest so match the inner door to the pillar, owerall the Body is very well made , the doors are constructed were good and even have core mat used to further the strength, and the body is very straight. Pete uses Core mat in the doors, roof, floor , kick panels and deck lid, and rear quarters. Bob , when I went to open your Pic. I wasn't logged in yet and it propmted me to do so, I logged in and then opened the 1st Pic, then went to the second Pic and it prompted me to log in again , what's up with that ? Not sure what's happenin' to ya there. I have cookies enabled so they sign me in automatically and don't have that problem.

Tim, just align your doors so that they are flush with the outside of the body from the belt moulding down and you will be fine. Jack

Thanks Jack, I appreciate your responce, is your 32 Steel ? if not who's body ? Happy with it ? and what kind of problems have you ran into ? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Tim, I have 2 32 3win, one is oiginal steel, and one is Outlaw Performance. I have built a few 32s using Outlaw bodies and I;ve built 3 or 4 using other bodies, and in ny opinion outlaw is the best. here is a pic of the outlaw car, Iused about one quart of filler to make it straight. Jack

Neat ride, 32. A really nice red on the car, kind of a cranberry look to it. Must have custom mixed that one????

Good eye Dave, it is a custom mix. Its a 3 stage similar to Kandy. A close friend of mine owned a paint store and he played with formulas until he came up with it. He named it after his grand daughter, Erica Red. Thank You for the compliment. Oh, I can park beside any Red car and instantly their car turns orange beside mine, made quite a few friends, you can imagine, with that little trick. Jack

Jack, Thanks for posting the pic, like they say a pic. is worth a thousand words, I sure rang a bell, I met you in Pidgeon last year , your were kind enough to give me lots of info. and even sit in your beautiful coupe, explaining every detail. once I saw the car and the Hot Rod Hot line , it dawned on me who Jack was, I thank you again for taking the time in Pidgeon, after all it's what a true rodder does. Didn't you just finish a Speedstar also ? How about some pic's of it ? which seats did you use in the 32 ?

Tim, I'm sorry for not remembering you from Pigeon Forge last year, but I meet so many people at all the shows I attend, and at my age my memory just isnt what it used to be, know what I mean. I'm glad if I was able to help you with your questions. I always try to take time to answer any questions which I am able to, I dont claim to know it all but I think I know a little, and am always happy to pass that on to anyone interested, as you probably already know, after having met and talked to me. I love Streetroding and encourage others to enjoy it also. The seats are from a Pontaic Fiero, I removed the headrests, in fact here is a pic taken in Pigeon Forge showing the seats.
