Putting a ford 302 into a Duece?

Hello I'm new here and have a question. I will probably start a 32 roadster project this year and I am wanting to put a 302 in it. The engine is a low miles Jasper engine. The block is a 1980 block and is set up with a carb and I would like to keep it this way. I will be using the block, crank rods and a few other parts from what I have but I will be getting a new intake, carb and heads. What do I need to fit the engine in the 32? I have heard I will need a special oil pan and headers for clearance issues. Were do I get these and what else do I need? This will be going into a Gibbon roadster. You've missed the most important part. You need a short water pump. Since the engine is so narrow, the exhaust manifolds usually aren't an issue. A nice set of ceramic coated headers will look nicer and manage heat better though. The front sump oil pan (and pump) can interfere with the front crossmember on most later rod fodder, but shouldn't be an issue on your '32. Still, I would trial fit the engine during mock up to make sure it doesn't interfere with the steering before stepping up to the rear sump oil pan kit. Hopefully you got the Gibbon body with the recessed firewall so you'll have additional room for proper fan and shroud after changing the pump.

i am building a 32 ford roadster for a coustomer , it has a 351 ,if i am correct same motor on the out side ? we used a set of sanderson headers , off the shelf pan , long water pump ,and a griffin radiator and have had no problems . other than the dist. is on the wrong end of the motor !!

Thanks for all the help guys. This hole ford thing is new to me. Cars and engines, I have always owned a chevy or dodge. I picked up a Street Rod builder magazine last night and ford had an ad with all the parts I was looking for with prices. Thanks for the help and I'm sure you will be hearing more from me this summer after I get the car.

Hey Kenny, the distributor is in the front of the motor so us old guys can reach it. Chebbie is the one putting it on the wrong end of the motor. Did you use block hugger headers, or long ones?? What a concept, a Ford in a Ford!!! Thought I was the only one that did that. A couple years ago I built a Deuce chassis for a friend of mine and added a $200.00 surcharge to the invoice for installing chebbie motor mounts. He paid the bill, but not the surcharge!!!!!
