should work fine in a shaft that short-----------
The project is coming along nicely. I like the rolled pan as well. I have one on mine.
got through the christmas holidays and the cool weather in January to find 80 degree all this week so got busy and painted the body today. going to wet sand it lightly, paint a couple small stripes around the beltline and reclear it on Wednesday. had the doors and trunk lid painted before christmas.

Wow it looks great!
Beautiful color!! What's it called?
Absolutely gorgeous colour and heck, the finish that you have accomplished in your heated bake oven is simply amazing.
It looks like it laid down like glass. Very nice work!
paint color is Indigo Blue code 39U 2002 General Motors clear is Southern Polyurethanes high solid going to add two 1/8 inch pin stripes with fine line tape on the beltline all around car starting and stopping at front of hood side. using some House Of Colors Cosmic colors Sunset Pearl for one stripe and Sunrise Pearl for the second one with stripes 1/8" apart. then 2 to 3 more coats of clear on top of everything.
the fine line tape is to tape off the car so the stripes can be painted on. then remove the tape and clear over the painted striping so they are under the clear finish and won't be rubbed off in future buffings. tape is not the color.
OK, I misunderstood your wording. Do you tape & spray the stripe, or tape and freehand a stripe using the tape as a guideline?
I spray the stripe using a little touch up spray gun putting as little paint thickness on as possible so no paint line is noticeable after clearing the whole car again. I cringe when I watch those tv shows where they lay down a beautiful finish and buff the clear to a mirror finish then come on top of it and hand paint a pin stripe. When building a "50's" period correct car I can see to do that. With my 48 International truck I drive now I painted it semi-gloss black and had a pinstriper lay down some stripes and artwork on top of the paint. But when it is just a stripe down the side of the car I want all my stripes under the clear so it will never be damaged.
That makes very good sense. The tape is just a single line of 3M fine line, not something that goes down wider with a 1/8" "pull line", right? Just thinking about taping a consistent line, arrow straight and then laying down a second tape line precisely 1/8" away....
yes, this is a single line. I have used the multiple lines before and pulled the lines to be painted but this time I don't have that so will lay down 5 single lines of tape butting against each other and pull the two to be painted off so I get a perfect 1/8 inch width of the line everywhere. Also going to make a "32" in a break of the lines in middle of back of car. Will print out the "32" in the size and font I like on my computer, and use a knife to cut the numbers out of the paper, use tach spray on back of paper to stick it to the car so I have a perfect stencil to spray paint the "32" with.
