I am building a 32 3window and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what type of seat to use?I want to stick with a bench seat,building it more towards the nostalgia side.I know a lot of people go with the Tea manufactured seats but was wondering if anyone had used anything out of maybe something late model that could be oicked up at a salvage yard and the re covered.Thanks Mike
I'm doin a 31 5 window,don't know for sure but I'd bet the width inside is pretty close to the same and I've found nothing that is narrow enough, thought the nice leather 3rd row seat with incorporated lap & shoulder belts outta my wifes 02 yukon would work but it was about 3-4 inches too wide (ya shoulda been there when she caught me trying to see if it would fit "LOL") only other thing I've found that might work is the rear seat from a saturn although i have'nt had the opportunity to measure, I think we're stuck with buying sumptin.......
Tracer, try late 90's Chrysler mini vans third row seats. They also have attached seat belts. I used one in my 41 ford pu. Sold the truck so I can't measure it to let you know how wide it was. I'm building a 32 3 window but am going with a new seat from Glide Eng. The bottom folds forward so you have access to the space underneath. I don't think the Teas seat does that.
...glad I saw this post as I'll be getting my '32 3 window from Redneck {body & chassic} either in late December or early January & I'll need seats. Where's the best {best meaning cheapest, of course}place to get either the Glide Eng. or Tea seat??? Thanks a bunch, Bill.....

I've been using Wise Gusy seats lately. They have a bench with and adjustble back, flip forward base, dual 12v outlets, and an optional armrest.
As for the wood and foam comment a couple posts up, I like to drive my cars long distances, and I would highly recommend a steel frame seat, with springs under the foam. 2" of foam on a pieve of plywood is just like riding on the plywood after about 2 hours.
Streets has a great idea. A friend of mine has a 31 CHEVY 5 window and his is just made out of wood and all, pretty nice, but just make sure when you mount it in the car that you have the front a bit higher instead of flat or else it's uncomfortable. His is like that but he is going to tilt it back more.Quote:

Well I am not sure about you but this seat was comfortable to me. Not like there's much room in those cars already as it is so why get a seat that is a bit too big and make it fit and be jammed in there even more?
The bench seats that are designed for these cars fit very well, the seat backs do not protrude above the rear deck on a roadster, they keep you close the to the floor so you can see out of chopped coupes and you don't stick out of roadsters like a giraffe.Quote:

With a properly designed cockpit, you CAN have plenty of room, the key is staying down, and back. If you get a big fat foam/plywood seat that puts you up and forward, then you are very cramped.

Welcome to CHR , I'm building a 32 3 Win. also however I'm using Pontiac Fiero Buckets, I know you specified a bench but it's just an FYI, the cockpit in a 3 Window is quite narrow to begin with, a friend of mine built a 3 Win. last year and used a Mid bench seat out of a Chrysler mini van, their like a two person seat in the middle of the van , unlike the rear full seat, Town and Country ? maybe ? as previously mentioned you may have to cut the seat down, which is quite a common practice, strip the seat , cut it to you desired width, and your Upholster will handle the rest of building the seat back up, they'll use several different density's of foam and build the seat to your comfort level. Hope all works out for you, and we should have more replys to follow.

Although this wont answer your question, but I too am using Fiero seats in a 32' 5W. The Minivan seat sounds like a good idea, as I have a 2000 Voyager, and the "2 seater" middle seat seems like it would work good.
Its a shame I wasnt aware of this site awhile back, as we sold the original bench seat, and the flathead engine...or should I say basically "gave" them away.
