Geezers should remember, and the youngin's might never have known about the Hurst Hairy Oldsmobile. Of course one of these days we'll have to just explain what an Oldsmobile was.:eek: :LOL:

Thanks for the nostalgia, Bob. I never did get to see the monster run, the 4 wheel burnouts must have been awesome to see in person !!! I don't remember what times the thing ran, just that it was fairly quick for a sled that size.

That wasn't the first car to do 4 wheel burnouts. TV Tommy Ivo was doing them 5 or 6 years before the Hairy Hauler.
Don't know that I ever saw any e.t. on the beast. I suspect it's main purposes in life were to make black stripes and smoke, and put butts in the seats.
Speaking of butts in the seats, notice in the frame shot that there's a headrest on the passenger side, though no seat for the pic.:HMMM:

TV Tom's 4 engine 4 wheel drive monster was quite a marvel of engineering for it's day, too.
Other than the jet cars, you just don't hear about the exhibition cars anymore. Suppose NHRA would frown on the wheelstanders and stuff nowadays???
