Quick Nitrous Question!!!

Ok. I have just been challenged to a "grudge match" race at the local 1/8 mile track and need some advice. this other guy is driving a truck also (in case you didn't know, I am driving a 66 chevy w/ a sbc), but he has a 383 stroker. I already have a 75 shot on the truck but am thinking about switching over to the 125 just for this race. My question is, with the fact of my gas tank being behind the seat, should I use an auxillary fuel system for the nitrous? The motor is still running a mechanical fuel pump, and I have a holley red sitting in the garage. what do you guys think?

You've got to have fuel enrichment with NOX, not sure if a stock pump is going to handle the volume required.......

Call the nitrous system manufacturer and ask them what to do.

i have been running a 250 hp shot successfully for two years.you should have at least a holley blue,with a preessure regulator and fuel pressure guage.it should be set at 7lbs running,even idled up to 3000 rpm,so you dont get pressure drop .you need at least five pounds of pressure for nitrous.if you drop and lean out youl burn up.nitrous is awsome to use as long as you are rich enough.remember, nitrous itself is not a combustable gas but what it does is brake down fuel particals smaller so that you can get more fuel into the cylinder ,which then exchanges it to more energy.it also cools down the fuel charge making it more dense. important: if you have ignition system with rev limiter.disconnect the rev limiter.should you blow a shift or drvehaft and hit the rev ,it will shut down the ignition allowing the cylinder to fill up and when the ignition kicks back in ,kaboooooom.blown motor......torino:toocool:

You can always install a pressure switch between the nitrous solenoid . A 5psi switch would insure that you dont melt your rings and such. Oh yeah, it goes on your fuel takeoff line to the fuel sol. ,called a Hobbs switch. 20 years ago I had a mild 455 pontiac w/ 175hp jets and an 830 annular holley on a single red pump. That's about 570hp to run 119.6mph in a stock 71 fbird. The stock pump is trouble w/#70 or bigger jets in your nos line.

Also try to trip him up at the light.Act agressive while doing the burnout ,and pre stageing(you know get his attention).Then take forever to stage.Usually they get caught up with what you are doing and fail to hit the light.I said usually ,so be prepared.
