Getting Ready for the 2007 Season
Just thought I'd give an update, in case anyone was following. After removing the hurt engine from he car and going over every inch of it, we decided to just buy a new Donavan shortblock rather than have this one repaired. We'll be picking it up at the beginning of March, and should be ready for some "real-world" testing in May.
The old block will be left at the machine shop to be repaired and used as a spare if needed.Mike Casella

The rods that came out, also took out the last 4 lifter bores and the last two cam journals. It will take some major work to get it back together.
The new engine will be more taylored to the car, so it should run much better.
We are switching over from MT 10.5W to the new Hoosier 10.5W. The results so far from people running those tires is outstanding. I have been getting about 10 passes out of the MT's. I got a call from a friend that is testing down in Florida, and when he called, he was on his 34th pass and they are still hooking great!
We are also replacing the fenders, doors, hood, and trunk with fiberglass parts. It should shave roughly 250 to 300lbs off the weight of the car. That should put us very close to 3100lbs.Mike Casella

I can stay in the Outlaw 10.5 class as long as I don't go any quicker than 7.0, which is my goal for this year.Mike Casella

Why is it that you cant run faster than 7.0 in a 10.5 class can you elaborate on this. Why would you be able to run faster than a 10.5 in a 10.5 class? or is that the tire size? I seriously dont know.

Mike whats the difference in the tires between MT's and Hoosiers? You say you can get more runs. More material, rubber or what? never used anything but street tires so really don't know what you mean.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

I don't know the details other than they are using a different compound. I have to call Hoosier and get the scoop.
Oh, I forgot to mention that we are going to use a progressive nitrous controller this year also. The NX Maximizer 2 seems to do exactly what we want, and then some.Mike Casella
