NHRA Wally "in the family"
I've been drag racing "on and off" since the 1960's and Sunday we finally hit pay dirt. Although I'm a '32 High Boy guy, I also help wrench on my son's air cooled VW drag car for my "racing fix". We've been lucky and won some big VW events, and two S/G class championships during the past three years in our PRA racing association. But this past weekend we raced the NHRA Sport Compact series Finals at Pomona, and won our "Wally" in the tough "Quick 16" class. If you care to watch, the TV coverage will be on ESPN2, Tuesday, October 30, between 5:00 and 6:00 PM, EST. The times listed are Eastern time. Look for the little blue/white 1960 ragtop street Bug with Troy Palmer driving.

In our neighborhood, 2 blocks down the hill was a gas station that (to me) all the cool car guys hung out there. 32 coupes, 33 & 34 Fords as well, a sweet 56 Ford Beach wagon that was setup gasser...
