Club Hot Rod Drag Racing

How about a CHR Drag series?

Start off small with 5 races geographically located around the country with simple rules, all heads up run whatcha brung type fun?

Something like this:

Hot Rod: 6 Lbs per cube with 2000 Lbs minimum weight

Street Rod: 10 Lbs per cube with 2800 Lbs minimum weight

Muscle Car: 8 Lbs per cube with 3200 Lbs minimum weight

All Cars must be street legal, registered and drive a 30 mile before race cruise.

NHRA rules as per safety equipment

See ya on the starting line.

If it goes over well it can be expanded.

There are enough people here to set up basic rules and if a group of 3-5 people were to take the responsibility of setting up the race in their area it could be done.

it would cost me 80.00 in fuel and i would have to fill up twice just to get to the track, i could just come and watch though.

sounds awesome except for the whole crusing thing never was a fan of that stuff, are we racing? or are we driving around wasting time attracting cops? :whacked:

I'm in for Sacramento or even Infineon. Adn I like the drive to the track idea.

my cars drive just fine but i not going to cage out my streets cars to play at the track:D and i do not fall in any of your cid to weight class:whacked:

thats why we ought buy the track here, it has no sanctioning body you can withing reality do anything you want! hey we have rules to though! as in no bbc gtos allowed :eek: :LOL:

Base it on et..3 or 4 classes, 3 qualifying passes and race. If you want street only cars than the cars have to have street equipment, lights, horn, etc. and don’t forget the party after the race.

I remember when... "Street car" races were started. There were all these rules about the cruise, the lights, the this and that. It was all cool until the racecars started adding lights and this and that to compete... I've got a couple videos from the "Worlds Fastest Streetcar" series. They are ALL racecars...Not one of them is a real "streetcar"... I always argued with people about my 71 Nova. Bigblock, Prostreet car, spooled rearend, 3800 stall converter...I drove it from Valparaiso, Ind to DuQuoin, Ill for the Street Machine Nationals one year, 370 miles each way. The cool thing was having people come up to me there mentioning that they saw me go by 150 miles back on the highway!!! THAT is a true streetcar (GOD, I wish I still had that one!!!)True streetcar races will almost always be infiltrated by true racecars with "options". I LOVE drag racing, but sometimes with all the rules, it turns into real "drag"...races, not much fun. I like the run whatcha brung and don't complain if you get beat. There will always be someone faster (unless you are Pat McCarthy...) :-)after looking at that Goat in his gallery, he may just have THE fastest car...:D I loved the idea behind "PINKS" when it first came out, but now, like everything, its getting old. You get guys sandbagging to get lengths...if they're cars are so BAD, why are they negotiating for a headstart??:rolleyes: Build it, race it and HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!

well thanks maxxmusle but it is not the fastest .but what it is a all steel 66gto with all stock body and interior and stock floor mats not tub out no Nos. so as it sits it is not a drag car made to allmost work on the street some of them cars are faster then me and i can not run the car at the track with out putting a cage in the car. i just will not do that to my 66 or the50

We have too many different kinds of cars on CHR to make this work if you have pounds per cubic inch classes, and also then have a minimum weight for each class.

For example my car is 145 inches at 1650 pounds (about 11.5 lbs/inch) and runs low 11's.

I would think that the idea previously mentioned of making a couple of qualifing passes and then run a bracket format with three or four classes would work great and be interesting.

Bakersfield Famosa is a first class track and would be a good strip at a half way point for all the California/Nevada racers.

It would be fun! But kill the rules thing!!!! Just show up, run what ya brung and hope ya brung enough!!!!! Sounds like you West Coasters' are gonna have fun......But to make the travel a bit more equal, how about some place in the middle, like maybe Kansas where the first Nationals where run????

Just run cubes against cubes and call it fun.

Way back when in the golden oldie days there were 2 tracks that had "run what ya brung races",here in No. CO, a track in Erie,CO and one in Cheyenne, WY. It was based on cube to cube, cars had to be street legal, licensed and insured and had to pass a safety inspection and the drivers had to have a legal drivers license. They ran every weekend spring thru fall. Lots of grudge and match races and a fun place for young guys to try out their mettle.
Those were fun times to watch and participate in. I got my butt handed to me numerous times in my '57 Chevy SD and also enjoyed going home the winner on occasion.
Then everything changed the tracks became "sanctioned" and the the big buck racers and lawyers took over....... sad!!

:toocool: Count me in. Seems like you would have to make it a bracket affair, that would allow everyone to participate. Could also throw in a straight up series during the event(weekend?). Count my time(service) in also. Have scheduled a few events before. Pick a centrally located track (In Florida? LOL:LOL: )
Those West coast boys do seem to have alot of excuses, I mean are shy about line'n um up. Hmmmm.......:HMMM: ...

3 trial runs and then run the king of the hill :)
