The Studebaker goes to the track
Well today I made it out to Sacramento Raceway for their Test and Tune day. I wanted to get some sea level runs and a decent track. Weather was perfect, low to mid 60s with high pressure. I was told the air density altitude was 1120, which is pretty good wherever you are. I don't have a basis for comparison on track prep, but on street tires I had a major traction problem. My best time was a 13.68 at 101.6. 60' was 2.159. That was the only time I was able to hook decently at all. Next best time was a 14.24 and 14.60. By rolling into the throttle I could get moving Ok, but would break loose when I got to full throttle. Couple times I felt like a funny car going up in smoke! I honestly felt that like I have had better traction on the street. In 6 passes my 60' were all between the 2.15 and 2.42. At any rate I am not disappointed. To be able to drive to the track and run through the mufflers on my wide white radials and run in the 13s makes me feel pretty good. I have some video, fixed the watermarked versions. Thanks Denny!

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!
In our neighborhood, 2 blocks down the hill was a gas station that (to me) all the cool car guys hung out there. 32 coupes, 33 & 34 Fords as well, a sweet 56 Ford Beach wagon that was setup gasser...
How did you get hooked on cars?
