And when gas was 30.9/34.9 - notice the price as the 63 Chevy passes the Standard station near the start of the video....

I sure do love the sound of the old cars, lots of races won by who was the best on the stick!!! Those who say you can't be consistent with a manual trans were never around to watch some of these cars.... Good SuperStocker and Gasser drivers ran within a hundreth or two of their qualifying time all day long.... And man, those little motors staying up in the revs all the way through the 1/4!!!! Even in the late 60's the B/SS Mopar I drove had to be within .020 of index to evern be competitive, and you'd better be on index to be a winner...all day long....
Maybe trade the maro.......
Well Dave, you know that sinking feeling you get for yrs you get when you didn't go with your first gut feeling about a deal. The shoulda, coulda, woulda, thingy.Do the deal and never look back.Run her for a yr and have fun-then sell it off to a guy who remembers his childhood dreams that will pay more than ya got into it.
Just cruise over in the truck, listening to a little Stephen Wolf....Let your motor running......Born to be wild!:3dSMILE:
We have had a lot of fun running our 55 Chevy Gasser. But we want to get a FED as well. Why not do both? I say get it and don't look back. We have an association out here called A.N.R.A. They have nostalgia classes including Eliminator I, II, and III. Three is a 9.6 index which you could do in that rail easily with a small block. Less expense, and not so fast for Grandpa's. If you don't want it, can you hook me up?
Wow Dave sounds sweet, too good to pass up.
I think it would just be nice to have, if it was dew able.
And if you don't have room to park it, you could tie it
too the rafters of the ceiling like Big Daddy does down
here in Florida. HE! HE! HE!

Then I had to go find a site with a whole bunch of pics like these......

Hey Dave, Completed a handshake deal last weekend to sell my Jim Davis FED to a father/son team from Souix Falls, as soon as the boy gets back from Kuait. Someone else who wants to have fun.
Haven't been on the site for a while (health issues). I see your thinking about coming over to the dark side? Old school is the only way to do it.
Dave this could be you!

I have a short car, 134''. last yr had a 302sbc, now a 331,sbc. hope to get in the hi 8s with it. lots of fun low maint.
Doubt it would be me in a Nova.....Had one of them years ago as a bracket car, good working chassis with nothing but housing floaters, ladder bars, and good shocks... Had a Maverick about 15 years ago, lots of lightweight 'glass body parts and a very stiff frame tie, cage, suspension setup that when set up right (or wrong?) would carry the wheels till about half way through 3rd!!!! What a blast to drive!!!! Have been considering a 98" chassis under my chopped Bronco II body with a 347 and the old Nash 5 speed!!!!:LOL::LOL:
Dave let me know if you'd part with the DN5 ...... if you don't use it that is .......
REGS
Geez, had that poor old thing so long it'd be like selling one of the kids!!!!!:LOL::LOL: Used to know a guy that had one for sale, I'll check with him to see if he still has it.... I bought a bunch of his extra Nash parts a couple years back but passed on the tranny.... I have seen a few of them showing up lately on Racing Junk---and maybe Scooter had one located a couple weeks back, too....
So Dave, did you end up with the old FED or not??
Nope, not yet anyway..... Busy lately, haven't decided yet between it and a new 5 speed car.... or maybe remember my age and just stick with what I got....:LOL::LOL:
