Junior fueler?
Yes, you need this. That looks like fun!!
Ken
:LOL::LOL::LOL:
Yer a lot of help, Mr. Thurm!!!!!
:LOL::LOL::LOL:
It should be able to run as a Junior Fueler in Nostalgia Racing, I would think??? Not sure, guess I'd have to reserarch it a bit...
I do know the car is moly, certified (don't remember what to, wish Richard was around!!!!!!!!)
I'd be getting it less engine and trans, have to be a Windsor in it for me, ya know!!!!!
351 windsors scarce also---they seem to be cracked by the #2 and 4 cam bearing bore next to where the bolt goes to hold the roller lifter spider---need to find 4 more tomorrow
Well, I guess I wasn't really expecting anyone to try to talk me out of it, Ken!!!!!
Never have raced a front engine car, made a few passes in them and really enjoyed it...Other then one pass out at Thunder Valley when I tossed out the right valve cover gasket!!!! But in it's own sick and twisted way, that was kewl too!!!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:
Way too old to get a ride in Top Alcohol, too broke to run a rear engined BBF injected car like my old one, but man, this thing looks like it would provide all the fun a guy could ever want to have.....!!!!!!!
What the heck kind of time does a guy have to put down to be competitive in the nostalgia events in a car like this???? Last Nostalgia event I was at was in the mid 80's, would imagine times have come down a bunch since then....
Dave, my Ex-GF said to me one time, "Honey, how many cars do you NEED?" I told her it wasn't a matter of how many I needed, it was how many I WANTED.:LOL::LOL:
Yes, you should get that car. It would be a blast to drive and every time you fire that baby up and stage you will feel like Garlits for about 9 or 10 seconds.:D DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT, DO IT.
Even a mild little Ford in there will put you in times you would have to spend big bucks on to achieve with a heavier, different style drag car. Plus it looks like it is really put together well.
You really didn't think a bunch of gearheads like us would tell you to pass on this deal, did you, and you KNOW Ken is a bad influence! :LOL:
Don
I can see you here Dave:

This post has made me laugh all the way through it! Now, I'm sure of it. We are all sick with a disease that is incurable!!! Go for it Dave! Ha!
I think you really need that Dave ............. it's good therapy for men of age and substance :LOL::LOL::LOL:
Make it street legal, Dave! You'ld look cool cruzin the local Sonic in that baby.
Watch out Dave, the resident wizard will have you stuffing a big block Poncho in it.
:LOL::LOL::LOL:Not too likely, Ken!!!
I guess I didn't really expect (or want?) anyone to try to talk me out of it... It's certainly not mine yet, just some very preliminary negotiations... Trades between Hot Rodders are such a delicate negotiation... We've made each other a couple tenative offers, and are approaching the "let's sit down for coffee and talk about it" stage of the process....
But man, it sure is an enticing little thing!!!!!
On an almost serious note, any idea what kind of times a guy has to run in one these days to be a bit competitive at some of the smaller nostalgia events??? I just can't help but think it would make a most excellent "retirement racer" and a dang good reason to get out of the shop and the garage once in awhile, do some travelling, and have some way-big fun!!!!!!
For that car that guy in Bartlett will probably talk you into putting a 392 in it(see, the distributor is on the correct end of the engine!!!!!!)
Or---I could even half agree with wiz when he gets up----half agree--put TWO ponchos ala Eddie Hill!!!!
Either of my suggestions will make you competitive
Don't think I'd ever want to get to the twin engine stage of nostalgia--and it certainly wouldn't be with no Poncho..... The 392 that the dude in Bartlett sells would be my prime consideration....
Guess I'd not be so much into the "nostalgia look" as I would be into a good, reliable, easy to maintain, and more affordable part of racing vs. the sitting around and looking good...
Man, that crazy Eddie Hill dude!!! I was a Texas resident when that crazy kid was racing them Top Fuel boats....think he got into top fuel dragsters cuz he wanted to run a something that was safe!!!!!!:whacked::LOL::LOL::LOL:
Dang it Don!!!! WHY did you make me watch that video???? You getting a kick back from the car seller or what????:LOL::
Fair warning--I'd have to consider my first road trip with the car to be to Florida---I'll set your butt in the car just so someone else would have to go out and spend all their hard earned money on a REAL toy!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:
Ran a rear engine car a few seasons, last one I had was an injected BBF--with all the noise and excitement behind you it almost got to be a boring ride...don't think that would happen with a front engine car...
Scooter and I have been PM'ing back and forth for a few years now about a nostalgia racer...this isn't really some spur of the moment impulse deal....I'm really going back and forth in my feeble brain over one of these front engine cars, or getting on my own version of a nostalgia door slammer.... Honest to God truth though, that rear engine car I had was the lowest cost weekly upkeep car I ever ran!!!! So light that parts breakage was nil--ran 80 to 100 passes every summer for three years--changed bearings and rings every winter as a preventive maintenance deal but not even that was essential.... Weekly maintenance was; change the oil filters, top off the oil, set the valves, wash the car, go over it with Meguiar's spray and shine, push it back in the trailer, wait for Sunday....
Anyhows, I sure didn't need to watch the video in that dang link you posted!!!!!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
Why a Ford? I use them for starters:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL: That would be fun just as a noise maker.
Might need to wear that aluminum baseball cap when you hop in that unit Dave....
Here you go Dave, these people should be able to tell you what times you would need to turn to be competitive.

Don
go for it dave that is a cool ride , ive been looking at a turnkey econo alterd with a 327 in it for the last couple of weeks on line , only thing its 1600 miles away. may have to make a long beer run.
Ive been told we only live once and then its over,might as well have fun while were here :)
Yes you need it, it looks like a blast. The up side is no matter what it runs. It will feel like it went twice as fast as it really did. It would be a great ride !
Oh ...... yes ...... you need this. I'm thinking ford flathead!!! with a glide and lots of 97's. Maybe even a nailhead.
REGS
I know, Mooneye!!!! I have always wanted to own a front engine digger....but the old Super Stock guy in me still wants to be bangin' gears in a straight axle gasser!!!!
Decisions, decisions, decisions....
I either need to win the lottery or find a rich girlfriend.....:(:(
Rich girl friends are everywhere---FED are rare
Why back when I was Draft A1, you needed to be married with at least 2 kids to stay out---I had Judith Ann Ford and Marshal Fields 20ish year old widow in mind when Kennedy got shot on Nov 22 putting Jackie on my list with Caroline and Jr--That was a thursday, I was drafted on the following Monday-------
Dave,I gotta say that I run with the pack..BUY IT..A good opportunity to pack it in a box and come down to our annual Nostalgia drags...:Dthis year held on April 11,after the club champs on the 10th.. Ross[Kiwidreamer]is a member of Bay Rodders,the club that organises/runs the weekend..SO..pix will be on Kiwidreamer......:D ay boy..:D.Who,me? stirrer??

Thanks a bunch for the link, Ken!!!! Sure was good to hear all those gear bangers running the quarter again!!!!!
I guess you know you're old when a Powerglide could only be found in Grandma's car!!!!!!
Could that second car (57 Chevy) be Wally Bell?
