Some really great pictures.... and from my favorite era!!! Slingshots, gassers, and early funnies ruled those times.
In a way it's sad to look at those knowing that so many of them are gone, like Marvin Schwartz, Don Gay, Pete Robinson, and many others. It's too bad "heros" don't live on.

I know, there is a '55 Chevy in there somewhere with radiused rear wheelwells and I was wonderin' to myself, what ever happened to all those '55 gassers with radiused wheelwells??????
neat pix,tech...I was 14 in 1967,and lived on a diet of American hotrod mags,which I still have...the only way this kid could see what was happening up there..was poisoned back then,still no cure, thankfully...:D

There's a good chance it was the same guy with another ride named the same. Ken is referring to a kid who showed up in Dayton in '59 to go to the school that National Cash Register had goin' on. He had this baby blue '58 Ford that just blew everybody away. I don't know if we ever knew what motor was in it, but I was thinking a poked and stroked 430. Those motors showed up in '58 in the Mercurys and Edsels and maybe the Thunderbirds. I remember him puttin' 6 guys into the Ford and spankin' a friend of ours with a 283 '53 Studebaker with just the driver in the Stude.
You guys are breakin' my heart! Now I'm startin' to "nostalgiacize"! I started a '55 post, three piece 'glass front, 3/4 ton truck rear with radiused rear fenders, and some custom made steel rims. The rear was a 4:56, and we welded the spyder gears.
Unfortunately, I sold it about '66-'67 to build a '57 BelAir hardtop that I found for $75! The '55 was green with gray and white fiberglass. I wonder if it's still around Danville, Illinois somewhere? ....It's only been about 40 years. ....I know the '57 eventually was wrecked badly. God I miss all of those past "toys". {:-(
Great pics, thanks for the link Richard!!! Life and drag racing was a lot simpler! I noticed the Hemi's had 1 fuel pump, 1 distributor instead of the collection of stuff it takes to fuel and fire those beasts today!!! I noticed a Comet funny car, if anyone has one of those bodies laying around in the shop still, could you let me know????:LOL::whacked::LOL:

Back then? I'm running Black Betty at Famoso this weekend. Hotrod bracket, and the new E/Gas with 11.6 index. F.E.D.'s, open wheel, brackets, jr dragsters
ANRA has 4 meets this year in Bakersfield. Nothing newer than 1973. The front engine dragster guys run 7.6, 8.6, and Number III is 9.6. Affordable with SBC power. Still alive and well, even today.
