NHRA qualifying on espn2 right now. 9 pm
I'm watching last nights qualifying on ESPN3.
John Force Racing has Robert Height (sic) in first, and his daughter in # 3! Bob Tasca is in second!
Ron & his brother Jon Capps failed to qualify with their Densham team cars.
Densham team cars?????????????????
yeah! Imagine that... I knew that Ron left the Snake Prudohmme, but I didn't know they were forming a team.
I should've been saying WORSHAM! oops.. This is from round 3

It was pretty windy today, but didn't seem to bother the qualifying much. If the weather weenies are correct it'll be almost 20 degrees cooler tomorrow than today. That ought to give the tuners something to chew on!
I didn't get to see much of it. I stumbled across it as I was "surfing"... Cold air = big horsepower... should be FUN!
Looked out at the thermometer on the patio a bit ago, down in the mid 40s, so looks like they will have the cooler air. Thing is, the wind has been blowing HARD and gusty all night, still goin'. That of course goes with the big temp swing as different pressure weathe systems move, but some of the gusts could be an issue unless this settles down once the sun gets up a ways.
Jon C. has been shoeing Henry Gutierrez's Jungle Jim Nostalgia funny car the last couple years but bowed out this year. Guess he plans to concentrate solely on the big show this year.
We hard a hard frost during the night. Grass and cars completely white this morning.. The frost on the grass was crunchy when walked on! Strange weather here also, 80's a week ago now freezing.
I guess I'll have to wait 'til tonite to catch-up with ESPN and see how the cars did. I did see that Dicky Venebles went over to Bob Tasca's crew! That should add decades of experience to that younger team!
Venables doesn't seem to stick in one place very long so not sure how long/much he'll contribute for the long haul. Although, one comment indicated that this was partly a Ford decision with JFR agreeing to help get Tasca back on track.
Whoa..............and Richards resigns from Capp's car last night!!
Well, that sure didn't last long!!!!
Let's see................you have the gnarliest crew chief/co-owner in recent top fuel history, a multi-time champ in Larry Dixson, and the 2011 champ in Worsham, and you dump both those drivers. Hmmmmmmm. Now you can't get either car past the first round. Sounds like kharma to me..........
Strange how things like that happen!!!!! Hard to believe Dixon is a spectator!
Watching the replay from eliminations, that dang wind was vicious!!!!!
I skipped to the bottom of the thread, watching the replay, since I spent the afternoon playin' with the grand kids.
Stanfield is running one of the new Camaro Pro Stock bodies, looks good!
Yes it is, saw that yesterday. Indicom is one of his sponsors, owner of that co. is a new customer of mine. Small world huh?
Man oh Man.. what are we now? must be a dozen holeshot wins and we just started the semi's!!!
Jimmy Prock has that hot rod runnin' pretty good.
Still watchin' first round replay
Robert Hight & Bob Tasca in the finals for FC! YEAH BABY!
I was pullin' for Tasca but... JFR Racing OWNS funny car right now! DANG!
Greg Stanfield with a win right out of the box for the new Haas chassis/Camaro body. cooooooooooool.
I won't spoil the ending for ya.. the show just finished here. Some good racing went on.
I'm happy to see Erica E. get a round win. (another hole shot). Not everybody feels the same way, but she can run pretty quick, just needs a little more consistency.
Yeah but it was at the expense of Larry Morgan! Sigh.. I'm still waiting for him to wake that Mustang up...
Allen J. gets her but he had to drive around her to win. Pretty good lights.
There was alot of great races there yesterday. I thought it was pretty amazing with so many holeshot wins. I thought Allen Johnson won the final with an .008 light or maybe it was Erika who lost with that light...
She lost with a .023 to AJ's .047
In the finals Nobile had a .008 to AJ's .033. AJ drove around both of them. They are making some good power in the mopar.
Just a matter of time til Erica scores a win. Those Hemi's are really strong on the big end! Don't think Anderson and Lines are going to walk away with things this year, things are really tight in Pro Stock!!!!
Race recaps are fun, but it's done. Time for gossip.
My first thought yesterday morning when I read the Richards "resigned" was, hmmmm, wonder if Schmacher has Coils phone number? Then Capps jokes about it in the booth with the announcers...hmmmm, again. Coil may be enjoying retirement and not having the grind of travel and the rest of the yaya..............but then there is that competitive spirit that needs to be fed.......
I was thinking after seeing Capps in the booth and hearing his comments that Richards was already tired of the road and it's grind. Maybe they want to retire? And does anyone know what his wife does for the team? I have a couple thoughts but this is a family show..
I believe Kim is a clutch specialist and was supposedly training someone on those duties----
But after the same thing happening at the same spot/distance and time, it looks like clutch mal function, but I would be looking at the ignition/fuel management part of th MSD-----
Didn't they win at the fall LAS race???? sould of been a simple reload of that data/tune-----
ALSO--Capps last year a few times later part of season had some remarks about Beckman that made it sound like everything wasn't smoothe in that part of town------
Kim is Dick LaHaie's daughter and has been around nitro racing her entire life. I agree with NTFDAY, she is definitely qualified.
Mick
I would be surprised if Coil took the job. If he did I'd be double surprised if he stayed very long. I think he would leave for the same reason Tim left.
