Who's paying the bills on this one, Jerry??? Is it coming back to life, or just going to a museum????
Brent Cannon bought it from the guy who got it from us back in early 70s--wants to Cackle fest it, and maybe some time in the differant museums
Cruz Pedregon is just finishing up a tribute car to the firebird funny car--should be debuted at NHRA Indy Labor Day week end
Way Kewl !!!! At least it will be a runner and out there making them sweet sounds again---and not just laying someplace gathering dust!!!!!!
Always a favorite!!! :-)
cowl is missing as somebody years ago was trailoring somewhere to an event and didn't have the dutz buttons in--cowl blew off and an UPS truck ran over it--ever since then the car has been sitting--------
It looks to be in really nice shape. Please post pics of when it's done.
That thing is beautiful. that rear end looks small, a stockish 9" - is it a floater Jerry?
cool to see it ...olds rear end jerry?
thats not the rear we had in car---ours was a much narrower mopar 8 3/4
Jerry-could you give breakdown details about the parts of engine that was in the car??. I think that would be interesting.
It was a stock stroke 392 hemi with 6:71 blower on Nitro----howards flat tappet cam--donovan exhaust rockers--aviaid oil pan--donovan gear drive--cragar blower drive and magnesium manifold--enderle barn door fuel injector
Jerry did back then they have aftermarket heads, like dual spark plugs and dual mags and did yours have that??.
Not engine related, but was it a in and out box for the drive?. Like just one direct drive.
cast factorie heads--bigger valves, new guides---single plug--
the dual plug/dual mag engines were the elephant 426 hemis
drive was a shaft that had clutch spline on front end and a slip joint at pinion end---oh, and we had Weatherby drill a 375 rifle bore thru it and the axles were also gun drilled
You guys used to buzz those engines up pretty high, didn't you??. Did you guys tear down between rounds?Carry a spare with you??.
I don't remember where I hear this, but I thought nitro engines where wot or nothing. That is was hard on them to try to peddle them.
Are they going to build a period correct engine in this restoration?.
I didn't think that that rear looked 'at home'
I recall Mickey Thompson making some of those rears, is that the one you had - they were magnesium weren't they?
I remember that a batch of aluminum 8 3/4 were made, i looked at an SPE chassis a while back that had one but i doubt they'd hold up with the power you made.
i remember the M/T center drop out of my dads .i was thinking it was mag and was a olds? that axle came from ron ellis T .i still remember my dad pluging a small hole in it with epoxy that was 38 years ago .i still remember the old floater GMC and the day putting in the fully chrome olds rear end under the car with the 16 americans split rims .i wonder what ever happen to any of rons stuff
Really great that it's going to be restored :cool::cool:

Are you going to the model show at Laouisville???
Wow Jerry that paint job was the bomb! It looks fantastic. Very sweet looking engine riding nice and high. After looking where the pumpkin sits, I imagine wanting some armour plating or a real good pair of Kevlar pants! :)
No sir ......... working again and schedule doesn't allow it :(
