Yeah, Denny. My 68 Torino came with a 390 but they had the GT heads that were doubled drilled and specail exhaust manifolds to get past the shock towers. A standard 390 head and manifold arrangement wouldn't work without messaging the shock towers a little. I don't know if the 70/71 429 CJ's and SCJ's had special towers of if Ford found another way to get them in there.

Putting my 460 in my 67 cougar. I didn't want to be cramp, so the first thing i did was take the shock towers out. And install a mustang II front suspension in it. Not sure on the other cars you mention.

Is there a web site you can view cars by year and all the models and engine packages? I know awhile ago I had a book from the library that listed that. I could just try to find it at the library but why bother if I can stay home and look online, hahhaa.
