Engine Compartment Too Hot Vapar Lock, How Can I cool It!!
1952 Dodge Power wagon- Installed a New Chevy 350 Small Block, but when in traffic somewhere in the fuel system it heats up, and stalls the motor. What are some ways to cool the engine compartment while not moving. When moving it runs great its only when stopping for like five minutes or more. The motor will start again after letting it sit for a couple of minutes and will not happen again unless I am sitting still for to long. What can i do??
I am also already using an electronic fuel pump, and smaller pulley on fan to increase fan spead.Last edited by Bradd Morse; 01-16-2005 at 04:30 AM.

Do You have a good shroud? Is the fan located properly in relation to to the shroud and the radiater? If all of this is OK You might consider going to electric fans and possible have a manual override switch if you see the temp. going up in a situation as you describe.

Forgot a couple of things! One simple thing ,put a half to one inch spacer under the carburator. If problem still exist ,reroute the fuel line getting it further from the exhaust. How about a cool can?
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
