My new Motor

Well, folks the project begins. I just made a deal on an LS1 from a 2000 Firebird. It comes with a 4L60E automatic overdrive and a bunch of other related parts. The motor and trans only have about 9k miles on them. I will be picking it up next Thursday, but it will have to wait till next fall to start the actual engine swap. Hope I can wait that long! But that gives me plenty of time to gather all the rest of the things I will be needing and finish planning the project. I'll keep everyone posted.

By the way the fellow I bought it from also has a '67 Camaro RS for sale, no motor or trans, mostly apart, but 90% there and still rolling with very little rust and some new body panels. He is asking $3500 for it. PM me if you are interested.

Nice engine man! If your a busy guy then 6 months will fly by but if you sit there and drool over the engine it may seem like it's taking forever! :D

Thanks guys, the main reason for the wait is I don't want to miss out on all the cruisin this summer. **) **) :toocool: Better to work on the project in the winter when it's cold and wet out. :3dSMILE:

Figurd' that was the reason. I usta' do the same thing with the panel truck. I'd tear it apart in the fall, and have it back together for the first run in the spring. Did that year after year, one or so mods at a time.

That's interesting indeed Sparky, in particular the power numbers they pulled. But I have no intention of swaping it back to a carb. So far I have seen a lot of similar success with the FI, along with trouble free driving and excellent fuel economy. Imagine a 12 or 13 second 1/4 mile car that still gets 22-25 mpg! That's my goal.
