Yes see the artical at "Patrick's" Just Google "235 chevy parts"
thanks
Gents,
I have a 216 engine that pushed a frost plug out of the block - so it needs to be torn down. I am thinking of swapping a 235 instead, but want to keep the 216 look.
Does anybody make a 235 valve cover that looks like the 216 - or any other parts designed to keep my more modern powerplant a secret?
Thanks for your help.
Stewart
Early 235's had a tappet cover like a 216. Look at early '50's trucks for a source. Bear in mind that these covers just vent through louver-like slits, and will let crud into your engine.
You'll need the two long rocker-shaft bolts too, as they hold the cover on.
Just noticed what you're working on, a Monkey Face CMP. The purists will be able to tell the engine is different by the shorter side cover on the 235. There's really nothing wrong with a "dipper" six as long as you don't scream it. There are lots of CMP's out there with 235's, though, and some 261's, which would be my choice.
Regarding the original question, some 216's used a different bolt pattern on the side mounts. I think the trucks used front mounts, though. The mount plate is behind the cam gears, so if your 235 doesn't have one, you might have to build some mounts. The bellhousing fits, though.
