cubic inches?

i was talking with some buddies of mine and we were talking about cubic inches, 350s, 400s, 502s, ect. we got to talking about if money was no problem if there was anyplace or anyway to get cubic inch size engine you want 1000 CI, ect. and also get every things else to in the size you need it intake, carb, heads, valves, ect. but then my friend brought up the point that after a point there becomes to much space for the spark plugs and then they don't work but i figure well can't you just add more spark plugs or get bigger ones(i don't know if you can or not) and he was't sure so i figured i would get your guys opinions.

I'm not sure about gasoline engines, but diesels that power
container ships have bores on the order of 6 feet in diameter. The flame front will still propogate out no matter how big the volume, it just takes longer to complete the burn.
But a gigantic engine will be going slow as all hell anyway.

Yeah, you can supplement the fire somehow. Like mentioned above, I'm not sure how it would work on a gas motor but big diesels are huge. He said 6 feet, I've seen pics of diesels in cruise ships that are bigger than your living room. Many of them have exposed rods and you can see how huge they are. I'm six foot and some of them are much bigger than I could reach across. On a gas motor, I would guess that you would just need enough spark. Can you imagine a spark plug as big a motor tranny combo? Coooooooooooooooool

Wow, that sucker is a monster!!! Yup, that's a few cubes up on anything Sonny has built. And I thought my old 460 stroker motor had some huge torque numbers!!!

More displacement is a good thing.:D

I wonder if they build the boat around that thing, if not, I bet moving it could be quite a chore.
