Just as an update, I got out an tinkered with the car finally this weekend for a few hours(iuts finally stopped snowing and raining in MI). I went out and got new plugs and wires. The points gap was way off, so i set those to the .017. I reset the dizzy at TDC and try firing it up again. Nothing. I'll be performing the plug checks tonight when I get home to see what kind of spark I'm getting. I'm feeling rich this week, so I might run to the local Autozone and pick up a compression check, volt meter and dwell meter. Anyone have any suggestions of brand names or what I should look for when purchasing these things? I figure If I'm in this old car phase for a few hundred more years, than I better invest in the euipment to troubleshoot the things I need to. Thanks for all the help thus far fellas, Ill keep ya posted

It "backfired a bit" after you replaced the timing chain? Are you sure you aren't out a bit on the cam timing? Sounds like it to me.
