Did I get the wrong cam? SBC 350

Complete build up. I used a 1973 block with .040" Over sized pistons. Gapless ring set. The pistons are flat top with 4 valve relier's. The top of the motor is 1993 TPI Computer controled HEI heads and Intake. With a 2 bbl throttle body injector system. 1.6 ratio roller rockers. I used an Paw Super Stock Industries cam #10338 performance range 4. Duration @ 0.050 Lift 230-230 Advertised Int Exh 284 284. Gross Valve lift .452 .452 Hyd.
The engine will idle in park between 1500 - 2000 rpm's. When I put it in gear it drops to 500 rpm's. If you let off the brake it will go, but when you give it the gas it acts like your not doing anything. (the linkage is working it does move the throttle on the carb) I have a 4 row radiator and I am useing a 160 deg thermostat and I have a dual remote filters with an engine oil cooler.

Can I make this system work and I just have a simple problem?

Do I need a performance chip for the computer?

Should I change cams to one that is for a computer controlled vehicle?

Ok I got another thermostat I can throw in there.
All the sensors are hooked up and installed. Oxygen sensor installed

How do I check the tps (throttle position sensor) to see if it is working properly ?

Also, a idle air control motor. where and what is this?

OK I changed the thermostat to a 195. I started it and was letting it warm up. Before it got warmed the service engine soon light came one. All my gauges are working. Can you pull codes with out a scan tool. If not I have a buddy with one just have to track him down.

What kind of vehicle is this motor in? I have a 77 4 bolt with the same top end that I put in a 93 pickup that had a v6 in it. Needless to say that chip had to go. It took a lot of research to get the right one. You'll need the best parts guy at the local dealership if you go that route.

I also have a problem with inconsistance idle too. Out of the clear blue the motor will idle up to about 1200RPM. This is a idle control related problem and I think I have it narrowed down to the connector. The wire is just worn out and not making a good connection.

I have the RV cam that Crane makes in it, I didn't want to go to big on the cam because I was afraid the computer would be fighting to compensate for it. You may want to talk to the technical folks at the cam manufacturer.

Thanks Denny I will check the voltage on that. That idle air thing sounds like that might be it.

I put this motor in a 1993 suburban.
Did you have to change the complete computer or just put in a chip?

I'm still waiting for my buddy with the scan tool. My meter is not working and I don't know if it is the right one to use.

Sorry I took so long. I just had to change the chip. I could find any info on it because I moved lately and can't find s---. If I come across part numbers I pass them on.

Cool, I am looking into getting a 6 stage chip by Hypertec. Other than this little computer problem, it runs great.
