SOME ONE TOLD ME I NEED 8 TO12 DEGREES INITIAL ADVANCE WHAT IS THAT
That's the spark advance that you dial into the motor by turning the distributor clockwise or counter-clockwise with a timing light connected to the #1 spark plug wire. The damper at the crankshaft has a notch indicating top dead center and a series of numbers following the notch to indicate degrees of advance. Line up the notch/numbers with the timing tab which is usually bolted to or is a part of the front timing cover.
There's a really good post by C9x entitled Got Time? (Part 1) that might shed some more light on your question.
Initial timing is the amount of spark lead that set using a timing light aimed at the harmonic balancer. Run as much initial timing you can w/o making starting impossible.l
SO INITIAL TIMING AND INITIAL ADVANCE ARE THE SAME ?
