The 3970010 block was used as the foundation for everything from a large journal 327, the high performance 350's of the late 60's, to 145 hp smog choked 350 inch truck motors. They came as either 2 or 4 bolt main blocks. If you could read the stamped numbers on the front of the block just under the passenger side cylinder head, it will give you a little more information. It's the best production block GM cast. The heads, cam, and intake are what made it a performer.
