there is a sleeve that the drive should have on it . if hi hp oil pump it will be steel or plastic for stock pumps

Is there suppose to be a sleeve or does the rod just slip into the groove.
on the oil drive should be on it. this keeps the drive from moveing and whipping out this sleeve get press on to the oil pump drive shaft not the pump
I called my friend and he said there isn't one on his. Does he need it, and if so where can he get this part?
yes you do and the parts store will have them or look one up on line with summit they will have the steel sleeve oilpump shaft every chevy v8 most v6 use them you will want to put one on the oil pump drive not the oil pump
