Break-In Question
Getting ready to start on my 55 Chevy drag car project. I plan to run in D/Gas.
The 454 is ready to install and has been rebuilt from the pan up. I have built other street engines and just broke in the cam on initial startup and then run it for an easy 500 miles with non-detergent oil. What do you guys do on a race motor such as this? After the initial cam break-in, then what? I sure can't run this car on the street. Or, should I worry? Thanks.........

on a race motor its going to give out if its going to give out.... so racing it after initial break in is no big deal.... maybe make a few light passes before you really get on it just to make sure you dont snap a rod and destroy something first...just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

i do the initial break in for the cam then i check the torque of the heads then i run them as im going to drive them if you are going to run them hard run it hard you shouldnt have any problems with it so good luckz
