Stroker 502 first time engine build-up
Here's the deal. I am going to be building a monster 532 in a kit car Cobra, but I am waiting until the engine is peicemealed together before I buy the kit car. I am buying individual items (mainly off eBay) and putting it together and money permits. Some say it's too much engine for a 2500lb car (adding Tremed T56 as well), I say to them "when you build one, you can do it the way you want"
Let me know the numbers you guys are getting and let me know your thoughts in general:
502 block 4 bolt mains
Clevite bearings
4.25 stroker eagle crank
6.385 scat rods
4.466 stroker Keith Black pistons +10cc (thanks 1JohnnyO)
Comp Cams XR270HR hydraulic roller
Topped off with
Brodix RR-O 119cc heads, aluminum roller rockers
Ed C66-O dual carb manifold
2-Ed 600cfm carbs
I know it may be slightly over carbed for a torquey engine peaking around 6000 RPM, but see the above comment about I am doing it my way. My numbers say about 9.5:1 CR, so pump gas is not an issue. I want a durable street car, that will be driven. The occasional trips to road coarses, and drag strips, and pulling up next to a college kid in daddy's corvette are about all the action it will see.
What do you think guys?
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
