One of the biggest reasons people spin rod bearings is in correct rod prep,not enough bearing clearance.
The rod under high load conditions becomes egg shaped or elongated what this means is it pinches in the middle which will cause oil starvation.

yup... the way that it will hurt is if say... you ran synthetic since your motor has been at 10k and you roll it over to 100k and for some reason put dino oil in there.... more than likely your gaskets wont hold up after that its only at high mileage and long use that i've seen changing back from synthetic tear through gaskets

What gaskets are you refering to??

generally cork oil pan and valve cover gaskets....... that aren't leaking til after the change back to dino oil
