Yup, the old technology in cylinder heads is way down from what is available in even moderately priced aluminum heads... I would almost bet an out of the box set of even just the Edelbrock RPM heads will outflow with better velocity then a pair of camelbacks with $1500 worth of flow bench and porting time..... Kind of like comparing a dual point distributor with an MSD hei distributor...not even fair!!!!

Shhhhhhh. don't let the secret out till i sell my other set of camel humps.......Just kidding.............I had my set of humps sitting there at the machine shop..............was going to cost $400 bucks to fix them right plus the cost of perfomance springs to match the cam I get. Sold them for $150. Add all that up and its pretty close to a set of new (better) heads. I am going to go with one of the alum. top end kits by holley or edlb. not sure which one yet.
chevy drivin look in to the reg port fast burn vortec heads jegs has them for 260 each.i have them on a customers 350 with a mild hyd roller.i dynoed the engine last sat it made 388hp.the large port vortec heads work great 383 and up mild street engines.
My block is built already, 327 small journal bored 40 with .125 domed forged speed pro pistons. Had the bottom end balanced and am awaiting funds to finish the build. Has 10.35 cr with 64 cc heads. Was looking at the top end kits, they advertise dyno numbers of 400 hp on a flat top 350 cid. So I was going to try and get as close to that HP as I could using either kit. The kits are 1,600 bucks for heads/cam/intake and a few other odds and ends. Would buy everyhting seperate but don't feel like guessing at matching parts combos up. Going to put it in a 68 camaro , I have two powerglides I could build or a T400. My buddy gave me a 3500 stall that will fit the T400 so thinking of going with that one.
i would use th400 it will come out the hole better the first gear ratio is 2.48 the glide is 1.76 i think.if you by the kit i use the edelbrock.if you use a 75shot of nos the car will run very strong.you dont have to change timing or fuel if you stay 75 or lower.good luck,run fast,run safe.the motor should come close to 375-400hp.i build racing for living if i can help i will.
