Combo Help
Building a 489" BB Chevy and need to have good vacuum. My combo is 4.280 Bore with a 4.250 stroke. I'm planning on using Edelbrock RPM heads, a Performer RPM dual plane with an 850 Double Pumper. My cam choice is either a Comp Cams Hydraukic Roller with 230/236 @ .050 with.547 lift on int/exh. or a Comp Cams Hydraulic Roller with 244/244 @ .050 and .612/.612 lift.
I need first hand knowledge from anyone who has used either of these cams as to vacuum at idle.
Woukd like to have 14-15 inches at idle. Hell, I'd like to have 14-15 inches period!!

Stick with the first cam. You'll like it for all around reasons. The second will suffer vacuum losses and you'll find yourself winding it up a bit tighter than you feel comfortable with. Don't forget to run a loose converter and spend time degreeing the cam, allowing for chain stretch. What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?
Ditto on the model kits! My best were lost when the Hobby Shop burned under suspicious circumstances....
How did you get hooked on cars?
