spark plug clearance question

Ok, i have just bought a '47 Chevy Coupe and the people who i bought it off of put in a 350. The problem i have found now is that they didn't take the time to line everything up correctly. What i mean is that the back spark plug is basically sitting on the steering column, the one i took out was actually bent and broken. someone told me of something he called an "oil burner" that would screw in and change the direction of the spark plug. does anyone know of anything like this or any suggestions on what should be done? There are some special short plugs made for severe clearance problems

Yup, work good for big blocks with big tube headers in small little cars, too!!!!

I think it would be better to get in there and move stuff to correct the problem rather than bandaiding it. The reason I say that is if they did something like that, who knows what else they might have Mickey Moused up.

I would see what angle the engine is sitting on and see if it can be moved somehow to get it to clear better. You can even move an engine sideways a couple of inches to gain clearance and it is still ok.

Or you can maybe screw a little plug in the hole---these plugs are good plugs, they are just a lot smaller now and they will be used to solve a lot of clearance problems around fender wells or headers---or you could move the engine over and then the one will hit the heater---

Just fun---these plugs shouldn't be looked at as bandaids and are a welcome addition to our way of doing things

Yeah, I like them.... removes some of the limitations on where header tubes can be routed, etc. Same plugs, just shorter.

i know in my ford that to solve my clearance issues i bought adjustable motor mounts, they give you 4 way motion to move the engine.... really solved some clearancing, and got my shifter actually centered in the console...... i dont know if they make them for chevy's but i'm sure they do
