All, I need some help here. :CRY:
I have a rattling sound under load? What are some of the possible sources of this type of noise. It increases during acceleration but stops once you achieve your desired rpm. It is not audible when in neutral through the rpm range.
I have checked the timing and it is in spec.
My short list:
- timing
- gas
- exhaust system
- drive train

Sounds to me like your suffering from a severe detonation problem. try reducing your timing a couple degrees or increasing your fuel octane.
or decreasing the squish or lowering the compression ratio or going with a cam that will close the intake valve later or rig up some water injection.....Quote:

Sounds like the old "death rattle" from detonation.....If it is, and it continues the next sound you hear will be someone playing taps for your dearly departed engine innards......
How's about some more info on the engine???? What's the CR, cam specs, what heads and pistons, etc......
