Fuel pump modification
I have 2 extra fuel pumps for the 196 6cyl in my Rambler, they do need rebuilt.. I would like to have a vac fuel pump for my 235 Chevy. I was comparing 1 of the AMC 196 pumps to the old pump I pulled off the 235 a few years ago, and found the bolt pattern and pump arm pin location and size are the same.. the pump arm is deffinetly diffrent, but being the pin size is the same, I could swap them easilly.. the only diffrence I can see is the spring is longer and smaller in diamater on the 235 pump... if I can get the actuation force and pump throw length relitivly the same, would it be safe to do this conversion? You don't know what you've got til it's gone
