Hello, Stubbe,
I share your interests.
I think the Buick “nail head” is the best looking American engine ever made.
I also like the Buick Overhead valve straight eight engines. I have owned two Buicks and one Pontiac (flathead) with straight eights and both were good, but I think the overhead valve engines “show better” when somebody looks under the hood.
People used to say “If it won't go, chrome it!
Well, my engines usually had more show than go.
I took this picture of an early dragster in Houston in the late 1950s. I don't know what is hiding under that cloth on the intake manifold.
I'm sure Bob Parmenter had a picture of Tommy Ivo's dragster with four nail head Buicks in it. He might agree to post it again.
Please ask any questions have about these engines. Someone will help you get the information you need.
Jim

I intended to ask you when I responded to your posting, do you see these engines in Sweden? I have seen a few nice looking old, large American cars in Europe that had been very well maintained, possibly toys of wealthy old men who can afford to buy fuel for them.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
