strange engine noise
its a small block 327 the noise sounds like a badly adjusted valve this is what i have done so far adjusted the valves over and over (hydraulic) then i fitted a new cam, cam followers, push rods, then adjusted again still the noise is there.... could it be the push rod on the mecanical fuel pump.. and oh yes the oil presure is good.. about to go crazy want to ride my rod but what if?

Does the noise change while you are adjusting the valves or does it sound different on one particular rocker arm?

I was thinking maybe you had a rocker stud coming loose loose. Have you tried to isolate the noise with stethscope?

A header leak or cracked flexplate will emit noises that sound like mechanical problems inside the motor.

short out one cylinder at a time to see if the sound changes---if it goes away with any plug shorted you probably have a bad rod bearing or wrist pin/piston
