428 cobra
does anyone know if the 428 cobra jet was available in a 1966 ford galaxie 500 xl? someone is trying to sell me one but i have never seen this option. thanks from a newbie

The 428CJ was first offered in 68 1/2 in the mustang. Anything before that as Bill stated was the P.I or police interceptor. If it's a CJ engine it's not the original engine as the car is too early for the motor. The 428PI would be correct. Check out www.428cobrajet.org this is the CJ registry and can help you ID what your looking at. G.

thanks for the replies. one more question. there are three cobra emblems on this car, one on each quarter panel and one on the rear, if the cj was not available in 1966 should these not be there? thanks again.
