Need help with old Buick Nailhead Tuning
I have a 53 322 buick nailhead engine in my 37 Buick special. It has been completely redone, new pistons, valves, everything. Also sanderson headers (fit great!), also pertronix ignition and flamethrower coil. Have 4bbl Edelbrock the basic one, model 1405, about 500cfm I think. Problem is I can't seem to get this whole setup running right. It starts just fine, and will idle fairly well, when I rev it up it sounds just fine. But when I try to drive it, it stumbles on acceleration, and when I get it revved up then it pops a little bit when I let up. I'm not sure what to check next, and can't seem to find many guys with knowledge in old carbed engines... any ideas of how you would start the tuning process would be great!
Thanks

Nailhead Tuning
Denny, thanks for the information! it was helpful but here was my 1st problem. Incorrect timing due to no markers for TDC. I measured the circumference of my harmonic balancer and using that I made my own Timing Tape with degrees marked in 5's. Found out that I was running at 45 degrees advanced, WOW, no wonder I was having such a hard time!
After dialing it back to 5-10 degrees I was then able to tune the carb a lot better and then was able to use all of the information you sent.
Still having some issues there but I'll keep trying.
now on to the problem of getting the TV cable properly setup to work with my TH200 4R trans!
If its not one thing its another!
