Tools?
Well I'm no longer working at the shop I used to work out of and thus don't have any tools to work with. I was wondering where people bought there tools and/or if there were any good starter sets with some of the basic tools needed for doing engine tuning/work. I've got the basics but I don't have engine specific tools like valve spring compressors or spark plug indexers.
Thanks!

Just a little while ago we had the same discussion on here, and generally members were pretty diverse in their brand loyality. Obviously names like Craftsman, SnapOn, Matco, MAC, etc are at the most recognizable, with the general concensus being that Craftsman are a good value for the money, but guys who turn wrenches all day prefer professional grade tools like SnapOn, etc.
I have a mix of tools that I've accumulated over lots of years.......mostly Craftsman with some of the other brands thrown in here and there. When I have a tight spot to work in I reach for the MAC tools because they are more machined and slimmer in profile. They cost a little more, as do SnapOn, but do have a better feel to them IMO. I'm getting more impressed with the Kobalt tools from Lowes too. Their drills and other tools seem to be very good and offer the same lifetime warranty as the other brands.
But, for the average home hobbyist Craftsman tools are fine, and if you buy one of their packaged sets the price per individual component is greatly reduced over buying them seperately. I also have lots of tools I have picked up at garage sales, estate sales, and pawn shops. Just stay away from the chinese and japanese quality tools as they are not very good and can get you hurt when they slip or break.
