Go to something around 600 cfm, and I bet you will be a lot happier.

The best 600 Holley ever made for 350 is # 6619 if you can find one.

Holley tuning
Because of the cam change I would try going down one or two sizes on the power valve, also down two sizes on primary jets, should put you in the ballpark.

Yep---why not spend $15 to fix the carb he has ? It might not be the ideal size but it can certainly be made to run better than it does

I appriciate the input. It sounds like the carb is the problem.being from mi. I have probably about 4 months to figure out to either fix or replace the carb. as far as building a motor to fit the carb I would love too.Ihave less than 4 k invested in this truck so far and have a budget to stay in.down the road I would like to tub it and put a blown big block in it.but at this time its just a dream (everyones got to have a dream)you folks seem to know your stuff

I'd get rid of the dual feed on the street, get vacuum secondaries, a 750 daul pump with mechanical secondaries is going to shove to much gas down a 350, get a 600-650 with vacuum secs, will only take what it needs, unless you have to light of a spring.
I like Q-Jets!

Anyone can cut one up, but! only some can put it back together looking cool!
Steel is real, anyone can get a glass one.

Right out of the box . The Carter AFB (aka) Edelbrock Performer is the better 600CFM Carburetor . A Holley 1850 600CFM needs lots of work done to it . so it can give any kind of performance .
