engine stalls
i got a 350 olds it runs good but when i punch it to the floor it dies but if the rpms are up when i do it it's fine any suggestions? i've been told it's the carb or timingLast edited by unclepoo76; 11-09-2004 at 10:02 AM.

Well, the standard drill is "check all the simple stuff first"
Once you make sure you've covered all your bases in that regard, we'll need to know what year the motor is and what's been done to it
if I had to make a guess, which is tough based on so little info, I'd suggest you may have fuel pump or fuel filter issuesLast edited by 462cid; 11-10-2004 at 08:23 AM.

When you say it dies, does it cut out complety or untill you stop giving it gas? Lie 462 says it might be your fuel pump but I'm betting something else besides that, but need more info.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

It's a 71 cutlass the only thing i've done is changed coil, cap and rotor when i let off the gas it is okay. it will bog down and die but if i let off it okay it also backfires through the carb at times when i punch it
