Some of our Club members cars
Fran Ladera's '51 Studebaker Truck. He was a trophy winner.
Ed Clark's '49 Chevy Custom Lead Sled. Trophy winner.
Mel's sleeper Nash. Looks mild mannered but is packing a tunnel rammed 427 Chevy
The Schneider's '30 A Sedan
Coupla '40 Fords, Karen Lewis' on the right took home a trophy
Super Clean '56 Ford Pick-up. Trophy winner
One last pic, this '50 Merc also won a trophy. Those flames change colors as you walk around the car. Owner said if you don't like the color just move a couple feet!
Oh yeah, I was fortunate to win a trophy for our Studebaker also...:3dSMILE:
Stu Cool, nice pictures. was that an old Lincoln Continental next to the Merc? It looked pretty sharp too.
Good eye! Since you asked... Yes it was and it was indeed very sharp. Here's a better look
Thanks, Stu Cool, That is one of my favorite body styles. Guess I am just kind of a Luxo rodder.:)
P.S. I sure wished the body on my F100 looked as good as that 56.
Hey Pat...Great Pics!!! I'm wonderin if you have any more info on the 50' Merc...I've been looking and looking for a color scheme like that for my Trans Am...want to have a custom bird done on a dark background with ghost flame wings that run down the fenders... Thansk!
Jerilynne,
I see the Merc's owner from time to time. He's not in our club. I can ask him questions if you have specific ones. Those flames are really not Ghost Flames per se. They are more of a chameleon paint in that they are different colors based on the direction you are looking at them from. What I know about that method is it is a multi layer with one layer for each color used. The paint uses a prism effect so that they are directional. Maybe SprayTech or one of the other painters on the board can explain it better.
By the way that car is a driver, he has put a lot of miles on it. He has a few rock chips (worn proudly I might add) to prove it. That is the downside to that degree of custom paint. It is very difficult to touch up.
Pat
I understand...that makes sense...i'm glad i've seen that pic...when i've talked to local customs guys i've always said "ghost flames" but the Merc is EXACTLY what i was thinkin! And now that you've mentioned the chameleon paint...it makes even more sense...i think i can take the photo to the shop I would like to use and go from there. My car is a driver as well...So, I expect that i'll be dealing with chips etc. also...but for me it wouldn't be a bit of fun if I couldn't be behind the wheel...so I suppose that's just something i'll have to keep in mind...Thanks again for the follow up!!! :D
Looks like it was a good show, Pat. Thanks for the pics.
