flathead
I am the proud new owner of a 36Ford Coupe. My plan is to eventually go to a 302 or 351, but for now I am content with turning up the flathead V8....My problem is in getting it to start. If it does not crank the first time or if it has been running for a while and I shut it off, it will not start without pushing and priming the carb.
I am planning to go to a 12 volt system, but could there be something else in the short term? Also where I can I go for a step by step procedures on converting the old 6volt system?

Speedway has a book for compleat instructions for 6- 12 volt conversion, It's 9 or 19 bucks I think, www.speedwaymotors.com , as for the engine not running, It's a carb problem. When old engines don't fire up after being run, 9 times out of 10, it's a carb problem yet, it could be possibly the points or somthing with the ignition system. when the engine is warm, and you are choking it to start it warm, try leaving the choke out.You don't know what you've got til it's gone
